the Iranian regime's president, addressed the UN General

(PMOI / MEK Iran) and (NCRI): the Iranian regime’s president addressed the UN General Assembly via video conference instead of attending the assembly in person on Tuesday.

While Iranian regime president Ebrahim Raisi spoke to the United Nations General Assembly, freedom-loving Iranians held a protest march in front of the UN offices in New York. Iranians in 11 cities around the world organized similar marches at the same time.

The mullahs’ tyranny for the past four decades

Their slogans represented the aspirations of millions of Iranians who have been subjected to the mullahs’ tyranny for the past four decades. Their message to the international community is that Ebrahim Raisi is unworthy of a podium at the United Nations.

He and his master, regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei, must stand trial for crimes against humanity, including the massacre of over 30,000 political detainees in the summer of 1988.

Mounting calls for justice around the world

The Iranian governments are now facing mounting calls for justice around the world, after decades of impunity for their heinous crimes. Raisi and other government officials played an involvement in the 1988 massacre, according to the ongoing prosecution of torturer Hamid Nouri in Sweden.

According to some jurists and legal experts, the 1988 massacre was a genocide that should be investigated and prosecuted by international agencies and tribunals. Various human rights organizations and workgroups have called for an investigation into the 1988 massacre as well as other regime atrocities. And the Iranian Resistance’s unwavering efforts are ensuring that the subject of human rights remains in the spotlight.

Political prisoners massacred in 1988

All of these events have put the regime in a precarious position. Raisi decided not to attend the UN General Assembly session in person because of the potential for his trips to be hampered by the Iranian Resistance’s continuous protests. Instead, he sent a video message that he had pre-recorded.

“[Raisi’s] hands are stained with the blood of political prisoners massacred in 1988 and at least 1,500 young people and teenagers slaughtered during the November 2019 uprising,” Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said to a global conference of Iranians on Tuesday. For the executions and torturing of captives, he must face justice and prosecution.”

The Iranian Resistance has been campaigning

The Iranian Resistance has been campaigning and demanding justice for victims of the regime’s misdeeds for decades. For a long period, the regime used persecution and propaganda to silence the resistance’s voice, The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran).

However, in recent years, this voice has grown louder, gaining support from governments and celebrities all around the world.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

On the eve of the UNGA session, American legislators convened a press conference in Washington, D.C., calling for Raisi to be held accountable for his crimes. “[Raisi] should be prosecuted,” stated former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who spoke at the occasion. Tomorrow is not the day. It won’t be next week. Next year, no way. Now is the time to bring charges against him… Ebrahim Raisi was personally responsible for the massacre of hundreds of Iranian political detainees in 1988.”

Pompeo went on to say that all regime officials should be held accountable for the deaths of “tens of thousands of Iranians” and urged world leaders to oppose Raisi. “You should all reject Raisi. You should refuse to communicate with him, to recognize him as the democratically elected president of the people, because he isn’t.”

US Senators and other government officials

Other speakers at the event, including US Senators and other government officials, made similar requests of the international community.

The world community is at a crossroads right now. The world is well aware that Iran’s president is a mass murderer. Raisi, Khamenei, and other regime officials will face justice for the crimes they have committed against the Iranian and regional peoples sooner or later.

Leaders around the world must choose between justice and their short-term economic and political objectives.
