PMOI Resistance Units in Zahedan
In the aftermath of a devastating 12-day war, Iran’s clerical regime is desperately attempting to portray a false image of victory. Yet, the real story unfolds not through the regime’s scripted rhetoric, but on the streets of Iran’s cities—where courage, not propaganda, sets the tone. On June 27, in the city of Zahedan, the PMOI (People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran) Resistance Units defied a severe crackdown and took to the streets. Their message was clear: the main conflict in Iran is not with foreign powers, but with a repressive regime clinging to power.
These acts of defiance challenge Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s narrative. In a recent speech, Khamenei claimed his enemies had been “crushed.” Yet reports from international observers, and even regime insiders, reveal a different reality—Iran’s nuclear infrastructure has been severely damaged. The Resistance Units are holding him accountable. One sign in Zahedan read: “Khamenei is responsible for an anti-national nuclear weapons project that, in addition to many lives, cost the people of Iran at least 2 trillion dollars and has now gone up in smoke.

The slogans carried by protesters reflect the growing public desire to end the regime’s rule. One powerful message stated, “Now, Khamenei must go. The people of Iran welcome the end of the war and want peace and freedom.” These are not random expressions of discontent. They represent a deeper strategy known as the “Third Option,” a concept championed by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran. This approach rejects both foreign military intervention and Western appeasement, calling instead for change led by the Iranian people and organized resistance.

Following the ceasefire, Mrs. Rajavi described it as “a step forward for the third option,” emphasizing the people’s central role in reclaiming their country. The Resistance Units’ actions, drawn from across Iran’s diverse society, embody this vision: “Neither appeasement nor war—but regime change by the people themselves.”The events in Zahedan have stripped away the regime’s illusion of control. The Iranian people, through their ongoing resistance, are declaring their readiness to shape their own future. Their chant echoes through the nation: “Overthrow, overthrow, overthrow.”
