MEK Iran: Following Trial of Terrorist Diplomat, Europeans Must Hold Regime Accountable

The (PMOI / MEK Iran) was first established in 1965 and was an important factor in the Iranian Revolution of 1979 which deposed the Shah, but installed the mullahs instead, led by Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khomeini.
An Iranian terrorist diplomat is currently on trial in Belgium for plotting to bomb a gathering held by the Iranian Resistance, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran), and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), just outside Paris in June 2018. Assadollah Assadi and three co-conspirators are expected to receive jail sentences for their part in a terrorist plot that could have killed thousands of people in France, including prominent lawmakers, politicians, and dignitaries from both sides of the Atlantic.
William Bourdon, who is the NCRI’s representative at the trial, emphasized that trying a diplomat for terrorism shows that the Iranian regime presents a danger to the world. Similarly, Beauthier, said this trial challenges European values. https://t.co/AtTT4xq943 pic.twitter.com/T9XLl0ePo4

The authorities have established that Assadi was undoubtedly working for and in coordination with the Iranian regime. The Belgian prosecutor in the case has demanded a 20-year prison sentence for Assadi.
The trial started on Friday and Assadi was notably absent, on the orders of Tehran. If the regime had no involvement in the case, ordering Assadi to remain absent from court would make no sense.
The indictment indicates that Assadi traveled to Iran several times in preparation for the attack against the regime’s main opposition, (NCRI) and (PMOI / MEK Iran). Two of his co-conspirators have been on the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) payroll for a number of years. The Prosecutor highlighted that Assadi was working in coordination with the MOIS, making it impossible to claim that he was a lone terrorist.
If Assadi is found guilty, it will send a clear message of support for #NCRI and (#PMOI / #MEK #Iran), as well as condemning the immoral and dangerous actions of the regime.https://t.co/1CIJRY7wT1 pic.twitter.com/qDc7ZoeyEd

There is overwhelming evidence in this case that the Iranian regime was involved with the plot and it certainly goes hand in hand with what we already know about the Iranian regime’s state-sponsored terrorism which has been increasingly common on European soil over the past few years.
However, despite this not being the first such plot to be planned in Europe, it is the first time one of the Iranian regime’s diplomats is standing trial. Assadi was caught red-handed with a mountain of evidence against him, so it would have been very difficult indeed for him to have got off scot-free, even with his diplomatic credentials and the benefits this affords.
The regime is extremely nervous about the trial and it has tried everything possible to stop it from going ahead. It has put immense diplomatic pressure on Belgium, foreign nationals have been taken hostage, there have been desperate but hollow promises of oil and business, and even terrorist threats. But the trial is still going ahead.
The trial of an #Iranian diplomat terrorist, for the first time in history, should not be understated. Whatever the end result of the trial that is taking place in Antwerp, Belgium of Assadollah Assadi and three accomplices, the true culprits may get off scot-free.#MEK #Iran pic.twitter.com/G9uBhpADUr

During a meeting between Belgian police and Assadi earlier this year, Assadi warned that armed groups in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen were paying close attention to how Belgium would act in this case. He said that these armed groups would be “watching from the sidelines” to see which side Belgium chooses. Not only did this terrorist threat not work, it just added weight to the argument that Assadi is working on behalf of the Iranian regime. It was a risky decision to make this threat and one that didn’t pay off.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran’s (NCRI): The Supreme National Security Council, presided over by Hassan Rouhani made the decision to bomb the Iranian Resistance’s annual gathering at the Villepinte, and the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei approved it.
The trial is positive news for the Iranian Resistance, (NCRI) and (PMOI / MEK Iran) that has vowed to continue with this legal battle until it wins. The people of Iran have made it clear over the past few years, in particular during the nationwide uprisings, that they want nothing to do with this terrorist regime. The people have said that they don’t want the appeasement policies towards the regime to continue because it is strengthening the regime. They want the regime to be held to account for its crimes and this trial presents the perfect opportunity.
In the beginning of the new school year, I salute the students who were the vanguards and led the protests and uprisings. Hail to the honorable and freedom loving teachers who held nationwide strikes against the regime over the past two years #IranProtestshttps://t.co/ROAEwif2nK pic.twitter.com/zQdqv5dTVK
