Corruption and incompetence of the mullahs' regime

Corruption and incompetence of the mullahs’ regime in Iran.

A 12-year-old girl committed suicide in Ilam and sat her torn clothes on fire so that no one can see the depth of poverty in her family. The semi-official daily, Jahan Sanat (April 18, 2020), reported this tragic incident in a report that says part of Iran’s budget had been lost by the Budget Supreme Court. The newspaper says it is unfair that less than $ 5 billion of the country’s budget has been taken out of the country to buy goods, but the goods have not been brought in, but this poor girl, like millions of other children in Iran, is burning in poverty.

Akbar Torkan, a former Rouhani’s adviser, referring to the report of the Budget Supreme Court says that $ 20 billion in foreign currency was being sold at a very low price to several people to import goods that would be sold at several times the price after entering the country. This has been going on for a long time.

The difference between the real currency exchange rate and the rate of the transferred currency (very cheaply) in the same year of 2018 is equal to one hundred and sixty thousand billion tomans, which is more than the general budget of the country in 2018. The looting, however, continues. Akbar Torkan adds, “We know this has been the case for the past 40 years. From the time of the currency of 7 Tomans (i.e. a US dollar was 7 tomans) and the currency of 60 Tomans and the currency of 170 Tomans and the currency of 300 Tomans and the currency of 500 Tomans and the currency of 950 Tomans to the currency of 3000 Tomans and finally the currency of 4200 Tomans. There has always been a cheap sale of oil currency, and billions of dollars of the wealth of the Iranian nation have been wasted by selling cheap currency.” (Tabnak website, April 16, 2020)

Meanwhile, the Iranian regime claims that it cannot fight COVID-19 due to sanctions and has requested a $ 5 billion loan from the World Monetary Fund.

Following Rouhani’s government order to forcibly send workers and laborers to work on April 11, under the pretext that the government had no money in the treasury, even many regime officials protested that the money that is under the control of Supreme Leader and powerful entities under his influence, totaling hundreds of billions of dollars, must be used to fight COVID-19. Among others, Massih Mohajeri, editor-in-chief of the Jomhuri Eslami newspaper, founded by Khamenei, on April 13 said, “To solve the problems definitively, great financial powers, which are very capable and their property belongs to the people, must come to the scene. These financial powers include the Executive Headquarters of Imam Khomeini Order (EIKO), the Mostazafan Foundation, and Astan Quds Razavi. If the extensive facilities and financial resources available to these centers are brought to the aid of the COVID-19 affected sections, the problems of these centers will be solved in the shortest possible time and in full.”

According to Setareh Sobh state media, on April 18, 2020, two members of parliament, Shahabeddin Bimeqdar and Gholamreza Heydari, explicitly demanded that the property of Astan Quds Razavi, the Imam’s headquarters, the Mostazafan Foundation, etc. be brought in to support the people in these dangerous circumstances.

“People have the right to ask what the authorities have done in the last 30 years, despite $ 3 trillion in oil revenues, that the lower middle class cannot afford quarantine for three months without earning money,” Ali Mohammad Namazi, deputy speaker of the council of members of parliament, was quoted as saying. Secondly, worse is that the treasury is so empty that the government cannot pay about three to four months to the owners of non-governmental jobs? … Is this an example of successful governance that we wanted to be introduced to the world?”  (Arman newspaper, April 11)

Institutionalized corruption for years, while trust between the state and the nation, which is the most important asset of a government has reached zero, looting, plundering, and the destruction of the country’s productive foundations have finally led to the disintegration of the middle class. The middle class always maintains the balance of society. As a result, we have to wait for a huge explosion, and this is a danger that the regime is well aware of.

The issue is not whether the explosion will take place or not, but when it will happen. Khamenei has said he wants to create an opportunity from COVID-19.

Mujahedin-e Khalq (PMOI/MEK Iran) times and again stated that the regime is refusing to listen to the people of Iran who are struggling in many ways and it is right to worry about further dissent.

The Iranian regime is determined to exhaust the protesting youth and insurgents so that it may be able to diffuse the explosion by a large scale massacre by removing the quarantine and social distancing rules.
