The European Union is finally moving forward with its plans to formally designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), after years of delay. Declaring it a terrorist organization will finally support and protect human rights in Iran, as well as prevent further terror attacks around the world. The delay has had a serious impact on both the Iranian people and the international community, who have suffered at the hands of the tyrannical regime for four decades.

Following the regime’s victory in the 1979 revolution, one of the main demands of the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK), Iran’s people’s resistance group, was to change the structure of Shah’s army. However, Ruhollah Khomeini, the regime’s founding father, was not on board. He intended to implement his repressive and hawkishness by prevailing over the army structure, but this was insufficient for him. Instead, he established the IRGC to consolidate power and accelerate the regime’s objectives.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard is being considered for inclusion on the list of terrorist organizations by the 27 member states, at a time when the Iranian regime is increasing the number of death sentences and executions in order to suppress the current uprising."

The Revolutionary Guard Corps is now the world’s largest terrorist organization. Its main objectives are to defend the regime and its supreme leader, as well as to export the Islamic revolution abroad, primarily to neighboring countries, through terrorism and the spread of any form of crime.

Other misdeeds of the IRGC include monopolizing exports and imports to narcotics trade; seizing the country’s economy to destroy the private sector; seat-of-the-pants dam construction and drying up the country’s water resources to the destruction of forests and agricultural lands and pastures for self-benefiting projects; money laundering to the acquisition of banks and stealing depositors’ capital in credit institutions, and so on.

Repressing protests is clearly stated as one of the criminal organization’s duties in its statute. In that case, they are obligated to do what the police cannot. They are given carte blanche to use whatever force and tool they see fit to put down the protests.

Article 2 of Maryam Rajavi’s 10-point plan as President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) emphasizes the need for the “liquidation of the Revolutionary Guards” and other repressive institutions. “Dissolution and disbandment of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the terrorist Qods Force, plainclothes groups, the unpopular Bassij, the Ministry of Intelligence, the Council of the Cultural Revolution, and all oppressive patrols and institutions in cities, villages, schools, universities, offices, and factories,” it states.
