The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran), reported the March 2021 Human Rights situation in Iran.

Executions
There were at least 16 executions in March, including two women who killed abusive husbands – Maryam Karimi and Nafiser Pakmehr – and four men who did not commit murder, which under international law is the only crime punishable by death.
This doesn’t even take into account that, because the regime forces confessions and so some of those on trial might not actually be guilty.

Arbitrary murders and wounding
The regime’s security forces – the armed forces, police, Basij members, and plainclothes agents – killed at least eight civilians, including three men in their 20s – Sirwan Mohammadi, Ebrahim Atshani, and Mostafa Hargani.
They also injured at least 17 people in various cities after shooting at them indiscriminately. This includes 70-year-old Ali Ahmadi and 16-year-old Mehdi Kolahizadeh.

Pressure on prisoners
Many political prisoners were denied leave over the Persian new year but were also subjected to increased pressure like denial of medical treatment and exile.
The denial of appropriate care is often used to torture prisoners into false confessions or to punish them for activism.
Last month it was used against Afshin Bayemani, Abolhassan Montazer, Fatemeh Mosanna, Hamzeh Darvish, Mohammad Nourizad, Mostafa Fallah Kheirandish, Nasser Fahimi, and Omid Amjadkhah.

Exile to remote prisons
Exile to remote prisons is designed to separate prisoners from their families in punishment for peaceful activism inside prison, even though this is illegal under the Code of Criminal Procedure. Over the past month, this exile punishment was handed down to Saeed Eqbali, Atena Daemi, and Maryam Akbari Monfared.
Eighteen political prisoners at Raja’i Shahr Prison in Karaj penned an open letter on March 21 to protest the exile of political prisoners and the opening of additional cases against them.
(NCRI) and (PMOI / MEK Iran): Political prisoners, including well-known activists, are now having to put up with new charges laid against them, leading to new sentences, more torture, and harassment.
Intensified suppression
The letter read: “Despite all the claims by the highest judiciary authorities about complying with the rights of the political prisoner, what is really happening on daily basis, not only is not a bit of improvement but also they have intensified suppression by making the prisoners conditions even more inhumane. Their aim is to intimidate people of Iran and political activists to comply with their suppressive policies by making their conditions at prison even worse.”
Some 34 political prisoners went on hunger strike for three days following the new year to protest the “ruling despots” and the killing of protesters and minorities.
