Next Uprising.

Several protests continued throughout 2018 and because Rouhani had blamed the uprisings on the (PMOI / MEK Iran), it was free advertising for the movement.

The Iranian regime’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, back in 2018 in a speech agreed that the uprisings taking place in Iran had been promoted by an organized resistance movement. Since that announcement, warnings have been issued about The National Council of Resistance of Iran’s (NCRI), and its constituent groups, especially the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran), even though in the decades before there was little mention of this growing opposition movement.

It was the worst of two choices as to whom or what were responsible for the uprisings. The second possibility was they could have been a spontaneous response to the regime’s policies that have not addressed the falling standard of living of the ordinary Iranians. This is harder to repress, as there is no one group to demonize and such spontaneity highlights the instability of the regime.

“Iran’s Year of Uprising”

Several protests continued throughout 2018 and because Rouhani had blamed the uprisings on the (PMOI / MEK Iran), it was free advertising for the movement. Mrs. Maryam Rajavi personally called for the continuation of the protests, so this gave the activists the excuse to follow her, which involved posting images of their president with slogans attached urging for the current system to be finally destroyed.

The same slogans were noticeable at the November 2019 protests, when Iranians from all walks of life took to the streets in more than 200 cities throughout the country to protest the large increase in gasoline prices.

Nationwide Uprising November 2019

This uprising was such a threat to the regime that it tried to repress the unarmed peaceful participants by shooting them, leading to 1,500 deaths. This figure was first reported by the (PMOI / MEK Iran) because the presence of their resistance units was able to count the numbers, even though the international media organization Reuter later confirmed the same figure. This is not the only time that the regime has tried to defend its presence with the bullet, but back in 1988 death commissions were set up by the Iranian judiciary in prisons within the country. These involved the interrogation of political detainees and any found to be (PMOI / MEK Iran) members or supporters were sent to the gallows. In the end, the figure topped 30,000 and they were buried secretly in mass graves.

International sanctions haven’t been good for the regime, but its inability to deal fairly with protesters indicates to the international community that the regime doesn’t have a strong foundation. Also, the resistance movement has regrouped and continued to grow into an effective opposition since 1998. Any sort of repression which stops freedom of expression shows that the regime is neither supported nor under control of its citizens.

The protests have been ongoing for several decades and even the daily newspaper, Resalat, published an article titled “Destruction reached one of the highest levels in three decades.” In this article, it reported that it is all occurring because of the economic problems that Iranians are facing. This is getting worse by the day in part to do with the way the regime uses the country’s wealth for its own priorities. Despite the pandemic, the regime has done little to help the people,

Over 139,400 people have died of coronavirus in Iran, according to reports by the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran).  Whatever the regime does it is losing its grip on power.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi: the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran’s (NCRI): The volcanic uprising in November washed away all unfounded claims. It was proven that it is possible to inspire and organize protests. It was proven that despite all the repression and crimes, our people have a spectacular desire and readiness to continue their uprising.
