Maryam Rajavi Called for the Recognition of Iran’s People’s Right to Defend Themselves and Overthrow the Regime.
The president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, met with senior members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee from both sides of the aisle.
During those meetings, Mrs. Rajavi emphasized that it is now time for the world to recognize the Iranian people’s right to self-defense in order to overthrow the regime as she spoke about the uprisings spreading to all 31 of Iran’s provinces with the aim of establishing a democratic republic based on the separation of religion and state.

Mrs. Rajavi held separate meetings with Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA), a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA), a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee, Congresswoman Young Kim (R-CA), member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Congressman Raul Ruiz (D-CA), member of House Energy & Commerce Committee, Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX), member of the House Financial Services Committee, and Congressman Randy Weber (R-TX), member of the House Science, Space & Technology committee.

Mrs. Rajavi emphasized that what is happening in Iran right now is a movement aiming to topple the religious fascism that currently controls the country in order to establish a democratic and free republic in Iran.
Rep. McClintock acknowledged the Iranian Resistance’s long struggle for freedom during these meetings and expressed optimism for the Iranian people’s success, saying that “we will undoubtedly witness a free Iran.” He claimed that “there is significant bi-partisan support in U.S. Congress for the Iranian people to free themselves.”

Congressman Ruiz strongly denounced the killing and detention of the protesters and declared that he has always stood by the Iranian people to protect their human rights and the rights of women.
Knowing you and your movement, Congressman Gooden, who had visited Ashraf 3 in 2019, said, “I want to assure you of my full support. I have no doubt that Iran will be free, added he would do everything in his capacity to help.”
Congresswoman Jackson- Lee declared, “I fully support you and have always stood by Iran’s freedom fighters.”
Mrs. Rajavi emphasized that women are leading the way as the Iranian people challenge one of the most brutal dictatorships in modern history. Women’s equality and regime change in Iran are the two sides of the same coin.

She claimed that in order to stop the spread of the protests and cover up its crimes, the Iranian regime has interfered with or shut down the internet. The international community must take all necessary steps to grant free Internet access to the Iranian people as well as the organized Resistance.
Mrs. Rajavi emphasized that the regime has been unable to put an end to the protests despite the repression and numerous killings and arrests. The Resistance Units have played a crucial role in directing these protests, fending off repressive forces, and maintaining continuity.
