In such circumstances, the mullahs’ regime, as the driving force behind the country’s disastrous economic situation, which is based on a corrupt structure, is unable and unwilling to address the people’s economic grievances.

As a result, the mullahs’ regime has long used increased crackdowns and escalating executions to create a climate of fear and intimidation throughout Iranian society in order to control inevitable social outbursts. Plundering and ruling with an iron fist, in other words, are two of the pillars that keep this regime in power. This is all the more reason why, as the country’s economy crumbles and more people fall into poverty, we are seeing even more oppression and executions.

Khamenei and his so-called judiciary are resorting to more executions under various pretexts and baseless allegations, knowing that Iran’s society has become a powder keg about to burst at any moment. This includes those who have been arrested during protests and are currently serving time in prison for dissent.

However, the history of dictatorial regimes has shown that harsh repression and executions are ineffective. There will come a time when such measures will not only fail to alleviate the dictator’s concerns but will actually exacerbate social unrest. The regime of the mullahs is currently in a dangerous phase.
