To make matters worse, the mullahs’ regime rules the country with an iron fist, resorting to a harsh crackdown, violations of human rights, and an increasing number of executions.

According to an Amnesty International report released on Tuesday, May 24, the Iranian regime had the world’s highest number of executions in 2021.”Iran accounted for the majority of this increase, with at least 314 people executed (up from at least 246 in 2020), the highest number since 2017.” According to the report, this was due in part to a sharp increase in drug-related executions, “a flagrant violation of international law prohibiting the use of the death penalty for crimes other than those involving intentional killing.” Most likely, the actual number of executions is higher.

To make matters worse, the mullahs’ regime rules the country with an iron fist, resorting to a harsh crackdown, violations of human rights, and an increasing number of executions.ation and a desperate need for revenue to fund its domestic crackdown apparatus and proxy terrorist groups across the region, the mullahs’ regime has resorted to plundering the already impoverished Iranian people.

Eliminating the subsidized currency exchange rate, which caused food prices to skyrocket, making even bread prohibitively expensive for millions of Iranian families across the country, and unbridled money printing, to the point where a former Central Bank chief dubbed the current Raisi cabinet the “Sultans of money printing.” All of these initiatives result in increased liquidity, rising inflation, and the regime’s theft of Iranian citizens.

In such circumstances, the mullahs' regime, as the driving force behind the country's disastrous economic situation, which is based on a corrupt structure, is unable and unwilling to address the people's economic grievances.

As a result, the mullahs’ regime has long used increased crackdowns and escalating executions to create a climate of fear and intimidation throughout Iranian society in order to control inevitable social outbursts. Plundering and ruling with an iron fist, in other words, are two of the pillars that keep this regime in power. This is all the more reason why, as the country’s economy crumbles and more people fall into poverty, we are seeing even more oppression and executions.

Khamenei and his so-called judiciary are resorting to more executions under various pretexts and baseless allegations, knowing that Iran’s society has become a powder keg about to burst at any moment. This includes those who have been arrested during protests and are currently serving time in prison for dissent.

However, the history of dictatorial regimes has shown that harsh repression and executions are ineffective. There will come a time when such measures will not only fail to alleviate the dictator’s concerns but will actually exacerbate social unrest. The regime of the mullahs is currently in a dangerous phase.
