The UN's Third Committee

(NCRI) and (PMOI / MEK Iran):The UN’s Third Committee highlighted the disturbingly high number of death sentences, widespread in Iran.

On November 17, the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee passed a resolution denouncing Iran’s egregious and systemic human rights violations. The UN’s Third Committee highlighted the disturbingly high number of death sentences, widespread and systematic arrests and arbitrary detentions, purposeful denial of medical treatment and services to prisoners, and harassment and intimidation of political dissidents and human rights defenders.

The regime has been the world’s human rights violators

The UN resolution emphasized the importance of conducting credible, independent, and impartial investigations into all serious cases of human rights violations in Iran, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial executions, and the destruction of evidence of such crimes, and called for an end to impunity.

According to the UN Secretary-report General’s to the UN General Assembly, “there are a series of reported efforts allegedly aimed at destroying evidence of the execution of political dissidents at that time (1988) and the harassment and criminal prosecution of families of victims calling for truth and accountability,”

The resolution only covers a small portion of the atrocities committed by Iran’s clerical regime, but it leaves little doubt that the regime has long been one of the world’s worst human rights violators.

(PMOI / MEK Iran) and (NCRI): Iran’s clerical regime, but it leaves little doubt that the regime has long been one of the world’s worst human rights violators.

The UN Security Council must be notified of the clerical regime’s four decades of crimes against humanity and genocide, including the massacres of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988 and 1,500 protestors in 2019.

International tribunals must punish the religious regime’s leaders, notably Ali Khamenei, Ebrahim Raisi, and Gholam-Hossain Mohseni Ejei. The world community must condemn this government and put an end to its criminal rulers’ impunity.

The UN resolution emphasized the importance of conducting credible, independent, and impartial investigations into all serious cases of human rights violations in Iran.
