(PMOI / MEK Iran) and (NCRI): Sir Amess was an outspoken supporter of human rights who, for nearly four decades, mostly backed the Iranian opposition, the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI MEK Iran).

Following the assassination of British MP Sir David Amess, the Iranian regime’s state-run media condemned him for supporting the Iranian Resistance and almost celebrated his death. Sir Amess was an outspoken supporter of human rights who, for nearly four decades, mostly backed the Iranian opposition, the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran).

British MP David Amess was stabbed to death

“On Friday, British MP David Amess was stabbed to death. He had stated that he was honored to assist the MEK terrorist grouplet, in addition to his right-wing ideas and support for Brexit,” the official IRNA News Agency reported on Saturday.

Sir Amess “never apologized for his positions” toward the regime, according to IRNA, and “continued to support the MEK until the end.”

Khomeini’s fatwa, MEK followers should be sentenced to death

These remarks sound virtually identical to those in Ruhollah Khomeini’s fatwa, which stated that MEK followers should be sentenced to death on the premise of ‘enmity against God’. The massacre of over 30,000 political prisoners in 1988 was the result of this fatwa.

Iran’s state-run media was rife with anti-Sir Amess sentiment. “He [Sir Amess] was a co-chair of the ‘Iran Freedom Committee,’ which backed the MEK. Amess had funded the MEK’s criminal actions under the guise of promoting democracy in Iran. He further claimed that the Iranian people supported the MEK by boycotting the presidential elections.

Amess had described himself as the champion of defending democracy in Iran

“Amess had described himself as the champion of defending democracy in Iran. He had not missed an opportunity to support the MEK and cover up their crimes. He met opposition leader Maryam Rajavi many times. He had opposed the MEK’s terrorist designation in the U.K. in 2007, and in many parliamentary sessions, called for adopting harsh policies toward the Islamic Republic. About a month ago, he called his support of the MEK a bright point in his career. He had also traveled to the U.S. to participate in the MEK’s event and announce that regime change in Iran is at reach,” according to IRNA.

Sir Amess was a staunch supporter of democracy and liberty, and he never wavered in his commitment to the Iranian people and their resistance in the fight for a free Iran.

(PMOI / MEK Iran) and (NCRI): In victory or defeat, in good times and bad, he would always smile and tell everyone around him to persevere.

Sir David Amess, a symbol of advocating freedom, democracy

“Sir David Amess was an admirable symbol of advocating freedom, democracy, and among martyrs to the cause of freedom,” said Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). We are glad that he rushed to assist our people in their fight against religious fascism during Iran’s worst period”.
