(NCRI) and (PMOI / MEK Iran): MEK Resistance Units celebrate Nowruz across Iran.

On the occasion of Nowruz, Persian New Year, many anti-regime activities have been taking place across Iran. Supporters and members of the main opposition to the Iranian regime, the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran), have been reaffirming their calls for regime change and their determination to continue resisting. They have said that this new year that is starting is going to see lots of resistance activity.

The (PMOI / MEK Iran)’s the internal network of Resistance Units have also been particularly active across the country, displaying posters of Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and leader of The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Maryam Rajavi in numerous towns and cities. They also displayed slogans across towns and cities saying that Iran will soon be free from the mullahs and that freedom is close.

Slogans were also echoed in towns and cities such as the capital city Tehran, Tabriz, Urmia, Karaj, Mashhad, Khuzestan, Rasht, Kerman, Isfahan, and many more; slogans with messages of hope and positivity such as “May this year be the year of uprisings that will overthrow the regime” and “A victorious Nowruz by overthrowing the mullahs”.

Flowers were laid on the graves of martyrs

One Nowruz tradition is for the thousands of martyrs to be commemorated at the time of Nowruz. Flowers were laid on the graves of many of the people that were killed by the regime in their fight for freedom in Iran.

Tributes were paid to the 1,500 protesters that were brutally killed by the regime during the November 2019 uprising.

Recorded video messages

Many supporters of the MEK recorded video messages, thanking the MEK for the work they are doing and the progress that is being made towards freedom. Like all activists in Iran, these people are taking great risks given that the regime cracks down hard on MEK protesters.

Political prisoners across Iran also sent New Year wishes to their fellow compatriots. Political prisoners in the Central Prison of Urmia, the notorious Evin prison in the country’s capital and the Central Prison of Karaj sent messages of Nowruz greetings and promised to keep struggling “with high spirits” until the regime collapses.

Message of Nowruz

They sent their best wishes to Massoud and Maryam Rajavi and emphasized the positivity surrounding the new year. They said: “message of Nowruz is that the light overcomes evil and even in the darkest days, Nowruz had always had a message of joy, happiness and prosperity, and a renewal pledge and will for change.” They too risk so much just to send messages such as these.

In Rasht, a member of one of the Resistance Units said that Nowruz will be celebrated together. “Damn Khamenei”, they said. Another member of a Resistance Unit in Tehran wished a happy Nowruz to all their fellow citizens, emphasizing that everyone is working towards freedom. “Down with the mullahs’ regime.”

Despite the many difficulties faced by the people of Iran at this time, there is an overwhelming sense of hope for freedom and hope that the people will soon be rid of the regime.
