The 36th consecutive week of the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign has spread across 22 prisons in Iran, as political prisoners persist in their hunger strike against the regime’s escalating executions.

This week, Arak Prison joined the growing number of participating facilities. The protest highlights the regime’s increasing use of executions as a tool to suppress dissent. In a recent statement, the prisoners commemorated the victims of the “Bloody Friday” massacre in Zahedan, where at least 120 protestors and worshippers were killed during the 2022 protests. They condemned this atrocity and expressed solidarity with the victims’ families, continuing their resistance despite the brutal repression.

The statement called attention to the rising number of executions in Iran, revealing that 23 individuals had been executed in just ten days. Additionally, two more people were publicly hanged in Khomeyn, reflecting the regime’s medieval practices of punishment. The prisoners also exposed the unreported execution of 20 inmates in Shiraz, underscoring how these acts are used to maintain control through fear. The political prisoners warned of even more executions in the coming weeks, particularly as the regime faces mounting international pressures.

According to them, the regime uses executions as a retaliatory measure, targeting prisoners under death sentences as a means to cover up its political and regional failures. Urging the international community to act, the prisoners called on human rights activists to raise their voices for those at risk of execution. They emphasized that these individuals must not be left to die in silence.

The “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign continues to grow, with prisoners across Iran’s most notorious prisons—including Evin and Ghezel Hesar—taking part. Their courageous resistance remains a significant challenge to the regime’s efforts to silence dissent. Despite the harsh conditions, the prisoners remain defiant, determined to continue their fight for justice and freedom.
