Since 1979, tens of thousands of pro-democracy Iranians have been executed. Khomeini prolonged the Iran-Iraq war, which resulted in millions of deaths and the destruction of dozens of cities on both sides.

The 43rd anniversary of Iran’s anti-monarchical revolution is February 11. Iranians deposed the Pahlavi regime after decades of corruption and brutality. However, Iran’s democratic and freedom spring was short-lived. The “Islamic Republic” winter began when Ruhollah Khomeini and his ilk seized the people’s revolution. Khomeini and his followers have now dragged Iran to its ruins. Khomeini spoke about freedom and democracy in his inaugural address to the Iranian people in 1979 at the Behesht-e Zahra cemetery, and how Muhammad Reza Pahlavi “ruined our nation and filled our cemeteries.”

Since 1979, tens of thousands of pro-democracy Iranians have been executed. Khomeini prolonged the Iran-Iraq war, which resulted in millions of deaths and the destruction of dozens of cities on both sides. Khomeini ordered the mass execution of political prisoners, principally Mujahedin-e Khalq members, after being forced to agree with a ceasefire with Iraq. Iran, under the mullahs’ rule, is the world’s biggest per-capita executioner of its own citizens, since Khomeini’s successors have continued his cruel legacy. Over 1,500 nonviolent demonstrators were killed by the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) in November 2019.

The regime sent Iranians to the Covid-19 minefield, killing almost half a million people, by pursuing a criminal policy based on deception and inaction. Despite their involvement in crimes against humanity, regime leaders such as Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader, and his president, Ebrahim Raisi, who served on Tehran’s “Death Commission” during the 1988 genocide, enjoy impunity and continue to commit atrocities. At least 50 people were hung in Iran in 2022, according to credible sources, and at least 365 people were hanged in Iran in 2021.

Khomeini pledged “free electricity, water supply, and free transit and bus services” upon his arrival, as well as that Iranians would be paid based on oil earnings. Despite this, the governing theocracy has been squandering people’s money on nefarious activities such as sponsoring terrorist proxy groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, as well as continuing its hidden missile and nuclear projects.” It is projected that the cost of the nuclear program should be between 1.5 and 2 trillion dollars,” the state-run Arman newspaper said on December 4, 2021. It appears that the expert’s first assessment of the Budget and Planning Organization was fairly accurate.

“Furthermore, the regime’s systemic corruption and ineptness have exacerbated Iran’s dire economic situation. “According to the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare, around 60 million individuals are eligible for government support, which means that 60 million people are below the poverty level,” Morteza Afghan, one of the regime’s economists, admitted on January 3.

Except for a few progressive clerics who were persecuted or imprisoned by the security forces, the clerical establishment and pro-Khomeini elements, who monopolized power in post-revolution Iran, colluded with the Shah’s regime and attempted to depoliticize the public, particularly the younger generation.

Millions of Iranians are suffering from poverty and the Covid-19 pandemic 43 years after the anti-monarchical revolution. Has, however, the valiant spirit that led to that historic revolution waned? The fact that protests are still going on in every corner of the country proves that the opposite is true. The MEK’s Resistance Units are now trailblazers in the battle against governing theocracy, keeping the spirit of the 1979 revolution alive through their actions and efforts to break down the wall of repression and incite a popular uprising that would end the mullahs’ nightmare rule.

“Despite the fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran was keen from the outset to purchase and import covid-19 vaccines from reliable international sources, it faced inhumane medical sanctions” Regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei had banned the import of WHO-approved vaccines in Jan 2021.
