The Iranian regime is confronting a critical juncture as internal turmoil, economic collapse, and regional setbacks converge to threaten its stability. Recent statements from key insiders paint a sobering picture of a system struggling to maintain its grip on power amid mounting crises.
Declining Regional Influence
Hossein Marashi, Secretary-General of the Kargozaran Party, starkly highlighted the regime’s waning influence across the Middle East. “We no longer have Lebanon, Syria, or Iraq. Even the Houthis are under tremendous pressure, and I don’t think we can count on them anymore,” he admitted. This acknowledgment echoes the strategic setback of the 1987 recapture of the Faw Peninsula during the Iran-Iraq War, which reversed Iranian gains and underscored its vulnerability.
Similar concerns were voiced by Mahmoud Rajabi of the Society of Seminary Teachers in Qom, who warned that diminished military power could spell the regime’s collapse. Rajabi criticized calls for de-escalation, labeling advocates as either “foreign agents” or misled by adversaries.
Economic Collapse and Public Despair
The economic crisis compounds the regime’s struggles. Mohammad-Kazem Anbarlouee, a regime insider, detailed a grim reality of energy shortages, inflation, unemployment, and systemic corruption. Despite the regime’s assertions of resource abundance, its inability to address basic public needs has eroded trust.

Adding to this bleak scenario, analyst Mohammad-Ali Janatkhah described widespread despair and hopelessness. He noted that the public mood is a powder keg, with individuals feeling like “ticking time bombs.” He further criticized both reformist and principlist factions, declaring, “Neither side offers a solution; the game is over for them.”
Security Forces and Internal Tensions
Amid growing public dissent, cracks within the regime’s security apparatus are becoming evident. State Security Forces Commander Ahmad-Reza Radan’s calls for unity and vigilance suggest anxiety over declining morale. Meanwhile, increased military drills and heightened surveillance of government officials signal a regime wary of both external threats and internal betrayal.
