During the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly First Committee on Disarmament and International Security, Iran’s missile activities and destabilizing actions in the Middle East drew sharp criticism.
This session, focused on global disarmament and international security threats, provided nations a platform to address pressing challenges. The European Union (EU) condemned Iran’s transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia for its war in Ukraine. The EU’s statement described the transfer as a direct threat to European security, escalating beyond Iran’s prior provision of UAVs and ammunition. The EU also suggested that significant measures, possibly targeting Iran’s aviation sector, are under consideration.
The United States highlighted Iran’s ongoing support for terrorist organizations, citing its recent ballistic missile strike on Israel as a dangerous escalation. France echoed these concerns, calling for an end to military provocations that fuel instability across the Middle East.
