In a recent speech, Javad Hashemi-Nejad, head of the Habilian Organization—a group closely aligned with the Iranian regime’s security and intelligence apparatus issued a stern warning about the increasing influence and activities of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK/PMOI).
Addressing members of the Basij, a paramilitary group linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Hashemi-Nejad notably referred to the MEK by its full name rather than the regime’s customary derogatory term, signaling the diminished relevance of the label “hypocrites” within Iran.
According to state-affiliated media reports, Hashemi-Nejad highlighted the MEK’s pivotal role in recent major uprisings, including those in 2017 and 2019, which have had significant repercussions both domestically and internationally. He pointed out that MEK’s leader, Maryam Rajavi, has successfully garnered substantial support from influential international figures. In one instance, she managed to secure the backing of 90 percent of U.S. Congress members in a meeting focused on Iran, underscoring the organization’s global reach and political influence.
Hashemi-Nejad expressed deep concern over what he described as the MEK’s ability to operate under the guise of promoting human rights and democracy, framing this as a significant threat to Iran’s national security. He emphasized the organization’s connections with prominent European and American politicians, noting that this support is not merely financial but is driven by the MEK’s strategic role in advancing anti-Iranian objectives on a global scale.

The Habilian chief further mentioned the annual gatherings organized by the MEK in Paris, which he claimed surpasses even the French government in terms of facilities and attendance. These events, he argued, are indicative of the organization’s extensive resources and the international backing it receives. Hashemi-Nejad also accused the MEK of playing a key role in advocating for economic sanctions against Iran, citing their efforts to push for oil and banking sanctions long before they were implemented.
Additionally, he referenced the recent trial of Hamid Noury in Sweden, highlighting the MEK’s active presence and influence throughout the proceedings. Hashemi-Nejad criticized the organization’s ability to operate freely in European countries, suggesting that their activities are deliberately aimed at destabilizing the Islamic Republic of Iran. Concluding his remarks, Hashemi-Nejad warned that the MEK has not only maintained its original objectives but is also actively pursuing new strategies to weaken the Islamic Republic.

He urged Iranian officials to confront these threats decisively and prevent what he described as an insidious attempt to reverse the roles of martyr and executioner, portraying the MEK as defenders of human rights and freedom. Hashemi-Nejad’s speech underscores the regime’s growing anxiety over the MEK’s increasing influence on the global stage and its potential to challenge the stability of the Islamic Republic.
