Iran’s regime is intensifying its repressive tactics in a desperate bid to suppress rising social unrest and prevent another popular uprising.
The government’s latest wave of crackdowns has sparked international concern, particularly due to the alarming increase in executions and the harsh treatment of political prisoners and their families. On August 7, the regime executed at least 29 individuals in a single day, marking a grim peak in a series of state-sanctioned killings. This follows the execution of political prisoner Reza Rasaei just a day earlier. Reports indicate that political prisoners are being denied access to critical medical services, and those who protest, such as the female prisoners in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison, face violent reprisals. The attack on these women, who were protesting Rasaei’s execution, exemplifies the regime’s brutal approach to quelling dissent.
Despite these severe measures, the regime has been unable to crush the spirit of resistance among the Iranian population. A prominent example of this defiance is the activities carried out by the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) Resistance Units, an organized network of activists committed to opposing the regime. These Resistance Units have been boldly conducting anti-regime activities across the country, even in the face of escalating threats.

The Resistance Units have made it clear that the regime’s increasing reliance on executions is not a sign of strength but rather an indication of fear and vulnerability. In Tehran, posters were installed by Resistance Units with powerful messages such as “The increase in executions is indicative of Khamenei’s fear of popular uprisings,” and “Khamenei the criminal sets another record in crimes with 29 executions.” These messages, boldly displayed in public spaces, underscore the activists’ determination to continue their struggle against the regime.
Similar activities have taken place in cities like Sari, Karaj, Shiraz, Rasht, Kermanshah, Ahvaz, and Sanandaj. Each location has seen Resistance Units express their unwavering commitment to their cause through slogans that condemn the regime’s actions and vow continued resistance. In Kermanshah, a placard held by a Resistance Unit read, “The message of the blood of the martyrs is to resist till the end,” reflecting the deep resolve among these groups.
The activities of the PMOI Resistance Units highlight the regime’s failure to suppress the growing momentum of organized resistance in Iran. Despite the regime’s brutal crackdown, these units continue to challenge the government’s authority, serving as a powerful testament to the enduring spirit of defiance among the Iranian opposition. As the regime intensifies its repression, the Resistance Units’ activities signal that the call for change remains unyielding.
