The Free Iran 2024 World Summit, held in Paris, witnessed a convergence of international leaders rallying against the clerical regime ruling Iran. The event underscored the global threat posed by Iran’s oppressive domestic policies, support for terrorism, and aggressive regional ambitions.
Senator Giulio Terzi, former Italian Foreign Minister and President of the Permanent Commission of EU Affairs of the Italian Senate emphasized the regime’s role in global conflicts. “The terrorist state of Iran is not only involved, it is also the main player in both bloody and violent wars for aggression. This enormous tragedy must end! That can happen only if Iran, as every other aggressor and their associates, is defeated.”
Linda Chavez, former Director of the White House Office of Public Liaison, highlighted the economic and security risks stemming from Tehran’s interference in global shipping and its support for militant groups. She noted the broader impact of Iran’s actions on international peace, security, and economies by disrupting supply chains and fostering violence.
Former British Prime Minister Liz Truss warned of Iran’s ideological threat extending beyond its borders. “What people in Iran face is in danger of spreading elsewhere. That is why it’s so important that we act together. It will take strength, courage, and a difficult stance from all countries who believe in our values of freedom and democracy.”
General James Jones, former U.S. National Security Advisor, painted a stark picture of the future if Iran’s ambitions are not curtailed. “Imagine how much more difficult the regional and global security situation would be if the regime, the root of the Middle Eastern conflict, were armed with weapons of mass destruction. In my view, there is no greater threat to the future of mankind.”

Criticism was also directed at the European Union’s past approach toward Tehran. Former Belgian Prime Minister and MEP Guy Verhofstadt condemned the EU’s appeasement strategy. “The strategy of the European Union has been a failure towards Iran the last decade. It has been an attitude of complacency. And it has failed. Because the mullahs’ regime continues their evil activities, their criminal activities, not only towards their people but also towards the world.”
Ukrainian MP Kira Rudik provided a concrete example of Iran’s influence on global conflicts, noting the regime’s supply of drones to Russia, used in Ukraine’s destruction. Rudik emphasized the interconnected nature of these struggles, stating, “If our victory is of immense importance for Ukrainians, then your victory is also so important for us because it means that we will be able to survive, and we will be able to win this fight.”

Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former Vice President Mike Pence both underscored the existence of a viable alternative to Iran’s regime.
Pompeo highlighted the resilience and potential of the MEK, stating, “Every week in hundreds of cities and townships across Iran, we can see that there is an alternative. The MEK provides a solution to so many problems, not only for Iran but for the broader Middle East as well.” Pence echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the MEK’s role and Iran’s National Council of Resistance as well-organized and widely supported alternatives. The summit concluded with former Colombian Senator Ingrid Betancourt eloquently summarizing the global stakes: “Their fate is our fate. The assurance of world peace depends on your victory. And the victory of all the freedom fighters in Iran.”
