In a video message to the Free Iran 2024 World Summit in Paris, Senator Giulio Terzi, former Italian Foreign Minister and President of the Permanent Commission of EU Affairs of the Italian Senate, reaffirmed his steadfast support for the “Ten-Point Plan for the future of Iran” championed by NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi.

Terzi underscored the critical need for democratic institutions in Iran, free from the grips of theocratic and dictatorial governance. Highlighting the bravery of the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and their supporters, Terzi paid homage to Dr. Alejo Vidal Quadras, former Vice President of the European Parliament, for his unwavering commitment to the cause. “I want to convey my deepest admiration for all the People Mojahedin of Iran and their supporters who risk their lives for freedom,” Terzi remarked.

Terzi’s speech resonated with a strong call for international solidarity, emphasizing the European Parliament’s resolution from April 24th, which urges EU institutions to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. This designation, he argued, is long overdue given the IRGC’s involvement in numerous assassination attempts on European soil. “The IRGC’s pervasive influence through its political, financial, military, and technological networks undermines both Iranian society and regional stability,” Terzi stated.

Senator Terzi condemned the IRGC’s extensive network and its detrimental impact on regional stability. He stressed the importance of imposing sanctions on the IRGC and its affiliates, including Hezbollah and other proxy groups, to curb their terrorist activities. “The most important pillar for the Iranian State is not only through its military apparatus but also through its political, financial, military, and technological ramifications which stifle Iranian society and regional stability and prosperity,” Terzi emphasized.

Terzi also criticized Iran’s “hostage diplomacy” and recent prisoner swaps, which he believes embolden the regime. He called for decisive action rather than appeasement, urging the EU and its member states to include the IRGC in the list of entities involved in terrorist acts. “The international community has not learned much from the ‘prisoner exchange’ between a Belgian citizen and diplomat-terrorist Assadollah Assadi. What happened over the last few weeks with two prisoners’ swaps in France and especially Sweden was another blow to justice,” he lamented.

In his concluding remarks, Terzi asserted that defeating the Iranian regime is essential for ensuring peace and stability in the Middle East and Europe. “The terrorist State of Iran, governed by the mullahs, must be removed. Their demise will be a victory for the Iranian peace-loving people who share the commitment of democratic nations fighting against the aggressor,” he concluded.

Terzi’s speech at the Free Iran 2024 World Summit serves as a powerful reminder of the global community’s responsibility to support democratic movements and combat terrorism, ensuring a future where freedom and peace prevail.
