Paris, June 29, 2024 – At the Free Iran 2024 World Summit in Paris, former Canadian Minister and MP Judy Sgro delivered a powerful speech in support of the Iranian Resistance, expressing her aspiration for next year’s summit to be held in a free Tehran.

Sgro, joined by her colleagues Candice Bergen, Tony Clement, and Senator Michael McDonald, underscored Canada’s solidarity with the Iranian people. In a significant announcement, Sgro revealed that the Canadian government had recently designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. This move, she noted, had been long anticipated and was a result of persistent efforts by various stakeholders. Sgro urged the European Union and the United Kingdom to follow Canada’s lead, emphasizing the expanding international support for the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

“The IRGC designation is a crucial step in isolating the Iranian regime,” Sgro stated. “The world is rallying behind the NCRI, and this growing support is putting immense pressure on the regime.” She praised NCRI’s President-elect, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, and the men and women at Ashraf 3, highlighting the global significance of their struggle for justice and unity.

Addressing the summit, Sgro said, “Good afternoon, everyone. It’s so wonderful to be back here again at the Free Summit 2024. And I only hope that Free Summit 2025 will be held in Tehran. All of us want to see that happen.”Her sentiments were echoed by her colleagues on stage. Senator Michael McDonald remarked, “Canada stands firmly with the people of Iran in their pursuit of freedom and democracy. The designation of the IRGC is a testament to our commitment.”

Reflecting on the broader implications, Sgro added, “This isn’t just about Iran. It’s about standing against tyranny worldwide, whether in the fight for Ukraine or other global struggles. We need to present a united front.”The summit showcased a diverse array of representatives, all united in their support for the NCRI. Sgro concluded her speech with a message of solidarity: “To Madam Rajavi and your incredible team, and all the brave individuals at Ashraf 3, thank you. Your dedication inspires us all. We are with you and will continue to support you.”

As the summit concluded, attendees expressed optimism about the future of the Iranian resistance movement. The event highlighted the growing international consensus against the Iranian regime and reinforced the call for global unity in the fight for freedom and justice.
