In a heart-wrenching account to Spanish online newspaper Infobae, Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras, the former Vice President of the European Parliament, reveals the harrowing details and the subsequent investigation of the terrorist attack he narrowly survived

The Catalan politician’s candid disclosure sheds light on the current state of political tensions and the dark underbelly of international espionage and terrorism, offering a glimpse into the life of a man who has stood in defiance of threats to democracy and personal safety.

Dr. Vidal-Quadras, a prominent figure known for his political contributions and unwavering stance against the Iranian regime, recounts the physical and psychological scars left by the attack, emphasizing the slow path to recovery, buoyed by the support of his family and medical professionals. “I’ve been gradually recovering… I also have psychological assistance because in a trauma like this, perhaps the most difficult part to overcome is the psychological aspect,” he shared, highlighting the impact of such violent encounters on personal well-being.

The investigation into the attack has led to the arrest of four individuals, though the masterminds, including a Moroccan suspect, remain at large. Vidal-Quadras remains hopeful, stating, “If they manage to locate and arrest them… I think we will be closer to clarifying the whole matter.” His assertions point to a complex web of international relations and criminal activities, underscoring the challenges faced by national and international law enforcement agencies.

Throughout the ordeal, Vidal-Quadras has maintained his conviction that the Iranian regime orchestrated the attack. His assertions not only reflect his personal experiences and confrontations with the regime but also illuminate the broader geopolitical tensions and the extent to which political dissent is met with violence. “But of my political enemies, only those of the Iranian regime are capable of killing,” he remarked, drawing a chilling line in the sand between political opposition and lethal aggression.

In his reflection on the current political climate in Spain, Vidal-Quadras critiques the diminishing decorum and unity within Spanish politics, pointing to a dangerous precedent that threatens the nation’s constitutional values and unity. His observations underscore a tumultuous period in Spanish politics, marred by division and controversial legislative proposals, such as the amnesty law, which he firmly believes “will never see the light of day.”

Dr. Vidal-Quadras’s story is not just one of survival but a testament to resilience, the importance of standing by one’s convictions, and the ongoing struggle for democracy and peace in the face of adversity. As investigations continue and the political landscape evolves, his experiences serve as a poignant reminder of the personal costs of political engagement and the indomitable spirit required to navigate such treacherous waters.
