On Saturday, February 10, Iranians worldwide gathered in cities such as Berlin, Paris, London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Vienna, Rome, Bern, Gothenburg, Luxemburg, Oslo, and Vancouver to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of the 1979 revolution that ousted the shah dictatorship in Iran.

Addressing the crowds, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), reflected on the sacrifices made over the past 45 years. She emphasized a renewed commitment to achieving victory for the democratic revolution of the Iranian people, irrespective of the challenges.

Mrs. Rajavi asserted that the NCRI has emerged as a genuine democratic alternative, steadfastly opposing both the Shah and the current regime. In a bold statement, she declared, “The Iranian people loudly proclaim that the elections are nothing but a magic trick by Khamenei. They vote for the overthrow of the Velayat al-Faqih regime. They vote for the triumph of the democratic revolution, and it will certainly be realized.”

The Berlin rally saw several lawmakers and politicians express their solidarity. Former German MP Leo Dautzenberg highlighted the enduring resistance against the inhumane dictatorship for freedom, spanning the past 45 years. He emphasized the role of the mullahs’ regime as the true instigator and supporter of terror in the Middle East, echoing the sentiments of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI).

Former German MP Martin Patzelt cautioned against the regime’s disinformation campaign, labeling it a psychological war waged on social media. He stressed the need to reject the policy of appeasement, supporting the people of Iran and their resistance movement for a stable Middle East.

Marcin Święcicki, a former Polish minister and mayor of Warsaw, urged governments to recognize the opposition as a viable alternative to the present regime, emphasizing that such support would lead to both Iranian freedom and increased stability in the region. In summary, the global rallies underscored a collective call for democratic change and an end to the oppressive regime in Ira.
