Recently, sources within the Iranian regime have acknowledged the fundamental link between their warmongering efforts in the Middle East and the suppression of rising domestic unrest.

For over four decades, the ideological stances of the mullahs’ regime in Iran have been at the core of numerous wars and crises in the region, causing untold suffering. The war in Gaza alone has resulted in over 20,000 victims, a testament to the devastating impact of these policies.

Nearly three months after a catastrophic war, voices from within the regime have started to emerge, admitting that their aggressive foreign policy has failed to quell the increasing likelihood of foundational uprisings within Iran. These admissions mark a significant shift in the narrative typically presented by the regime.

On December 21, the state-run Ham-Mihan newspaper painted a bleak picture of the disillusionment rampant among millions in Iran. For years, the Iranian people have witnessed what they perceive as rigged elections, leading to widespread dissatisfaction and the pursuit of alternative forms of protest. The newspaper detailed a series of events that have acted as catalysts for public outcry, including protests against property losses under the regime in 2017, demonstrations against fuel price hikes in 2019, , and the widespread discontent following the tragic death of Mahsa Amini in 2022.

Ham-Mihan, in a rare moment of introspection, acknowledged that the fire of uprising in Iran is far from extinguished. Despite increased security measures following the protests sparked by Mahsa Amini’s death, the paper admits that the people of Iran continue to seek opportunities to express their dissatisfaction.

The newspaper also highlighted the regime’s reliance on what it terms the “Power Bloc,” which refers to Iran’s military and strategic influence in the region. However, it warned that without effective diplomacy and economic reforms, Iran’s influence could wane, leaving room for other regional powers like China, Arab countries, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar to fill the vacuum.

Similarly, on November 27, the Jomhouri newspaper expressed concern over the explosive conditions within Iranian society, cautioning against imposing heavy taxes on the already burdened populace. The newspaper warned that such measures could not only lead to the loss of power for the regime but also alienate the people further.

These admissions from within the regime indicate a growing awareness of the precarious situation in Iran, where foreign aggression and domestic suppression have failed to stifle the rising tide of discontent among its people. The situation remains tense, with the regime facing the dual challenge of maintaining its regional influence while addressing the deep-seated issues that have sparked widespread unrest at home.
