This resolution, passed by a majority vote, represents a strong global stance against the continued and severe violations of human rights by the Iranian regime, despite attempts by its allies and other human rights violators to thwart its adoption.
Iranian opposition President-elect Maryam Rajavi of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), commented on the resolution’s significance. “While this resolution only reflects a portion of the regime’s many crimes, it signifies a global consensus against a regime that holds the least regard for the recognized principles and standards of human rights,” she stated. Her remarks underscore the international community’s growing concern over the regime’s actions.
According to Mrs. Rajavi, Iran is currently governed by a regime of execution and genocide, which blatantly violates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The situation has worsened amidst the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East, with the number of executions surging since the war’s onset on October 7, 2023. “Since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, 245 executions, and in November, 120 executions have been recorded, including political prisoners and uprising heroes,” Mrs. Rajavi revealed, highlighting the regime’s brutal crackdown on dissent.
The General Assembly adopted the UN’s 70th resolution condemning violations of #HumanRights in #Iran, deeming it necessary to adopt a decisive policy rejecting the clerical regime from the international community.

Mrs. Rajavi urged the international community to take stronger actions against the Iranian regime. She called for the expulsion of the clerical regime and the referral of Iran’s human rights catastrophe to the UN Security Council. She stressed the need for a firm policy, suggesting that leaders like Khamenei, Raisi, Eje’i, and Qalibaf should be held accountable for their decades-long crimes against humanity and genocide.
“The immunity of these criminals from punishment further encourages the regime’s execution, massacre, torture, warmongering, and terrorism,” she asserted. In a call for global solidarity, Mrs. Rajavi advocated for the suspension of political and economic relations with the Iranian regime until the atrocities, including torture, executions, and the massacre of protesters, are ceased.
Her statement reflects a growing sentiment that instead of appeasing this brutal regime, the world community should adopt a stance of non-tolerance towards its continued human rights violations.
