On December 12, a momentous event unfolded on Capitol Hill as members of the United States House of Representatives from both major political parties demonstrated a united front in support of the Iranian Resistance’s efforts to establish a democratic, non-nuclear republic in Iran.

This unprecedented display of solidarity spanned across party lines, with both Democratic and Republican representatives vocally condemning the clerical regime’s destabilizing actions throughout the Middle East.

The regime’s support for terrorist groups, its dangerous nuclear ambitions, and the violation of human rights within Iran were unequivocally denounced by the Congress members. Iranian opposition President-elect Maryam Rajavi of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), delivered a powerful keynote address at the conference. She highlighted the regime’s strategy of initiating regional conflicts to suppress uprisings, pointing out the surge in executions and the targeting of MEK supporters and protesters in Iran.

Mrs. Rajavi also shed light on the regime’s coded language, referring to the current conflict as a battle between “good and evil,” a rhetoric reminiscent of the Iran-Iraq war era. She emphasized the regime’s historical opposition to peace, its active efforts to sabotage the peace process, and its recent escalation of conflict amid internal crises.

Furthermore, Mrs. Rajavi addressed common misconceptions about the war and the regime’s role in regional conflicts, underscoring the importance of a firm policy against the Iranian regime.

Representative Tom McClintock echoed these sentiments in his speech, emphasizing the link between the regime’s atrocities abroad and the oppression of its citizens. He underlined the urgency for regime change and lauded the bipartisan support for House Resolution 100, seeing it as a testament to the American people’s backing of the Iranian resistance.

Representative Brad Sherman, a chief democratic sponsor of House Resolution 100, reinforced the resolution’s support for a democratic, secular, and non-nuclear Iran. He condemned the regime’s brutal tactics against dissenters and affirmed the necessity of American support for the Iranian people’s quest for freedom.

Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren emphasized that the pursuit of freedom in Iran transcends political divisions in the U.S. House of Representatives. She highlighted the bravery and vision of Iranian political prisoners, especially women, in their struggle for a free Iran.

Congressman Ruben Gallego and Representative Mike Garcia both stressed the need for a united stand against the Iranian regime, with Garcia labeling the IRGC as the largest state-sponsored terrorist organization. Congressman Garcia advocated for maintaining maximum pressure on the regime and supporting the Iranian freedom fighters.

Congresswoman Young Kim and Congressman Randy Weber spoke out against the regime’s support for terrorism and human rights abuses, with Weber calling for international intervention to halt the regime’s brutality.

In a powerful statement, Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart asserted the necessity of regime change in Iran, while Congressman Pete Sessions praised the bipartisan nature of support against the Iranian regime. Representative Nicole Malliotakis proudly acknowledged her sanction by the regime as a symbol of her commitment to the Iranian resistance, while Congressman Derrick Van Orden and Representative Richard McCormick expressed their unwavering support for the Iranian people’s struggle.

Congressman Ronny Jackson concluded the addresses by declaring his and his colleagues’ alliance in the fight for a democratic and non-nuclear Iran, emphasizing the need to make it difficult for the current regime to survive and to cut off its financial support for terrorist proxies.

This assembly on Capitol Hill marked a significant moment in international politics, showcasing a rare bipartisan agreement in the U.S. Congress and a strong commitment to supporting the Iranian people in their fight for freedom and democracy.
