In the midst of the devastating war in Gaza, which has seen widespread displacement and destruction, the Iranian regime, led by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, appears to have taken a stance that has shocked many.
The German Solidarity Committee for a Free Iran has recently highlighted the Iranian regime’s disturbing response to the Gaza conflict, bringing to light a troubling aspect of regional geopolitics.
The Committee’s statement pointed out that the Iranian regime seems to be the sole beneficiary of the ongoing conflict in Gaza. According to them, the mullahs are using this crisis to maintain regional instability, which serves the ideological goals of the Iranian regime. This stance comes amid global efforts to mitigate the conflict’s impact and find a peaceful resolution.
The statement follows the 2022 uprising in Iran, where Khamenei attempted to strengthen his regime’s grip on power through intensified repression and hostage-taking. Despite these efforts, the regime failed to quell the societal unrest.
Now, it appears that the regime is exploiting the Gaza conflict to divert attention from its internal challenges.
The German Solidarity Committee for a Free Iran elaborated on the regime’s tactics, noting how the conflict in Gaza is used to discredit the protest movement within Iran. Protesters are branded as ‘agents of Israel’ or under ‘foreign control,’ a tactic that aligns with the regime’s history of using nuclear weapons blackmail, hostage-taking, and internal suppression to maintain power.
A significant part of the Committee’s statement focuses on the West’s appeasement policy towards the mullahs’ warmongering and terrorist activities. The statement criticizes the passive approach of Western countries, especially regarding the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).
The Committee urges the German government to lead an initiative to list the IRGC as a terrorist organization in the European Union, highlighting the dire need for a firm stance against the regime’s destabilizing actions in the Middle East. In conclusion, the German Solidarity Committee, which comprises prominent figures and parliament members, discussed a potential solution and the prospects for peace in the region.
