In a monumental move advocating for freedom and democracy in Iran, the Iranian Democratic Women’s Society hosted a prominent conference in Pescara’s municipality, Italy.

The event, held in the heart of Abruzzo, spotlighted the unwavering spirit of Iranian women standing tall against the patriarchal clerics’ regime in Iran. The conference garnered the presence of influential figures from both the political and social spectrums. Among them was Carlo Masci, the esteemed Mayor of Pescara, and officials from the Pescara municipality and the wider Abruzzo region.

Their attendance not only symbolized solidarity with the brave Iranian women confronting the repressive regime but also their endorsement of Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan – a comprehensive blueprint aiming at a democratic future for Iran.

Maurizia Sciarretta, who heads Pescara’s Equal Opportunities Commission, used the platform to reflect on the status quo in Iran, precisely a year after its nationwide uprising. Saluting the Iranian populace’s grit, she particularly accentuated the critical role played by the women in the freedom struggle.

Shahed Shole, spearheading the Iranian Democratic Women’s Society in Italy, conveyed her profound respect for the Iranians’ resilience. She laid special emphasis on the role of women as the leading lights in the nationwide protest against the regime. Additionally, she expressed gratitude for the worldwide backing that the Iranian resistance movement has received and firmly stood by their pursuit of liberty.

Echoing similar sentiments, Maria Luigia Montopolino, also from Pescara’s Equal Opportunities Commission, praised the proactive involvement of Iranian women in resisting the oppressive regime. She reassured the municipality’s steadfast support for these women as they strive for their rightful place in society.

On the other hand, Maria Franca D’Agostino, representing the Equal Opportunities Commission in the Abruzzo Province, shared valuable insights from her rendezvous with the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, during her recent Italian visit. D’Agostino elaborated on Rajavi’s profound insights into the struggles of Iranian women and also hinted at the regime’s disquiet during Rajavi’s Italian sojourn.

Closing the event was the Italian historian Gabriela Liberatore, solidifying the theme of the conference. The gathering was a clear testament to the global backing for the Iranian resistance. It commemorated Iranian women’s undying efforts for freedom and equality, underscoring the importance of worldwide unity in advocating for a liberated and democratic Iran.
