In diplomatic meeting, Mike Pompeo, former U.S. Secretary of State, convened with Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in France.

The gathering was a testament to Pompeo’s commitment to address the Iranian regime’s oppression, especially in the aftermath of the 2022 uprising. At a conference featuring members of the Iranian Resistance, Pompeo underscored the regime’s ongoing decline. He spotlighted the expanding civil unrest, observing, “The civil unrest has become more powerful. The regime responded with more executions, more repression, more imprisonment, more torture, exactly what one would expect from a scared set of leaders.”

Pompeo hailed the organized resistance steered by the PMOI, recognizing their burgeoning capability and the impediments they present to the regime. “Your work has made it far more difficult for the IRGC to inflict its brutal terror and mayhem on the people of Iran,” he appreciated.

The ex-Secretary of State was candid in criticizing the policy of appeasement. He tagged it as the most significant barrier to ending Iran’s malevolent international behavior, state-sponsored terrorism, and backing the Iranian public’s quest for transformation. “Appeasement will not work,” Pompeo asserted.

Pompeo voiced his disapproval of the Office of Special Envoy for Iran at the State Department's approach, which he felt unfairly targeted the PMOI instead of supporting the protesters.

Pompeo emphasized, “No patriotic American, Republican or Democrat, should want this.”

Drawing the curtain back, Pompeo disclosed that certain factions within the U.S. government acted on behalf of Iran. He censured not just U.S. policies but also those of major European nations for emboldening Iran’s oppressive regime.

“This policy to which we have returned, not just to America, but to large European powers as well, it’s totally counterproductive. Iran’s newfound wealth will fund terror abroad and oppress people at home,” he cautioned.

He underscored the importance of supporting resistance efforts both inside and outside Iran, while contemplating the country's future.

Highlighting the crucial juncture Iran is at, Pompeo appealed to world leaders to heed the Iranian populace, who have rejected the ruling clerics.

He envisioned an Iran free from past and present dictatorships. “Iran will never return to the dictatorship of the Shah, nor will it settle for the current theocracy in Iran. What Iran needs is something that looks and feels like the people in this room. We don’t need dictatorships. We need freedom,” he concluded.
