On Thursday, September 7, an August assembly of international figures commemorated the one-year anniversary of Iran’s 2022 uprising.

The conference titled “Iran Nationwide Uprising, One Year After” brought together influential leaders including Congressman Randy Weber from the US, Senator Gerry Horkan from Ireland, and Mr. Jim Higgins, former VP of the Irish Delegation to the European Parliament.

Iranian opposition President-elect Maryam Rajavi of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), initiated the event by recognizing the five-decade struggle of the Iranian Resistance and the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) against the tyranny of the Shah and the clerical regime. “The Resistance Units and their growing influence have challenged the regime’s misleading narrative.

Supporting her sentiments, the regime’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, admitted in July, “PMOI had the biggest role in organizing and carrying out these protests.”

Today, even the regime officials express concerns over MEK's expanding roles in the uprisings," she stated.

US Representative Randy Weber emphasized the Iranian people’s desire for freedom, democracy, and human rights. Weber pointed out that while America may be divided on various issues, it stands united on the cause of a free Iran.

“We have bipartisan support in forwarding a congressional resolution in support of the 10-point plan for a free Iran,” declared Weber, urging international democracies to rally behind the Iranian people’s pursuit of freedom.

Irish Senator Gerry Horkan showed his respect for the NCRI’s relentless efforts. “You’re advocating for democracy, religious freedom, gender equality, and the rights of all nationalities. We stand with you, echoing the sentiments of 3,600 parliamentarians from 40 countries supporting the NCRI,” he said.

Former Irish Minister and European Parliament member, Jim Higgins, highlighted Tehran’s continuous attempts to tarnish the Iranian Resistance’s image. “They’re deadly and devious, but the PMOI remains unfazed. Instead of clandestine deals with the regime, international unity at the UN and EU levels is vital to showcase the regime’s true nature to the world,” he remarked.

In his concluding remarks, Higgins emphasized the universal support for the Free Iran movement, expressing hope that freedom would come to Iran under Mrs. Rajavi’s long-awaited 10-point plan  .The Paris NCRI Conference was more than just a commemoration. It marked a reiteration of the global promise to stand with Iran’s desire for freedom, democracy, and respect for human rights.
