Thousands of members of the Resistance Units, a network of MEK activists operating within Iran, demonstrated their solidarity with the Iranian Resistance at the annual Free Iran 2023 World Summit in France.
Through video messages displayed at the summit, the 10,000-strong Resistance Units conveyed their unwavering commitment to overthrowing the current regime and establishing a secular democratic republic. Despite facing immense challenges and peril, the Resistance Units persevered, emphasizing their determination to bring freedom and change to Iran.
Resistance Units’ Video Messages
Video messages from various cities across Iran showcased the hope and resistance of the Resistance Units. Many expressed their support for Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), referring to her Ten-Point Plan. The messages resounded with the slogan “We can and we must!”, symbolizing their belief that freedom is achievable.
The Resistance Units carried out their activities amidst escalating repression from the regime, particularly targeting MEK supporters. Since the regime cracked down on the MEK in 1981, any association with the opposition movement has led to imprisonment, torture, and even execution. However, undeterred by the risks, the Resistance Units continue their daily activities, fueled by their conviction in the righteousness of their cause.
The 10,000 video messages by the Resistance Units counter the regime’s narrative that the MEK lacks support within Iran. Their activities garnered admiration from speakers and attendees at the Free Iran summit, including former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, former Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird, UK Member of Parliament Anna Firth, and Irish Senator Gerry Horkan.
These esteemed figures acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Resistance Units in organizing the democratic movement within Iran and highlighting Maryam Rajavi’s 10-point plan as a viable alternative to the current regime.
