The Free Iran 2023 World Summit convened this past Saturday, rallying prominent global figures in support of the Iranian people’s struggle to overthrow the mullahs’ regime.

World leaders, activists, and politicians echoed a call for a secular, democratic Iran, aligning with Iranian Resistance supporters gathered at Place Vauban in Paris.

The summit was characterized by impassioned speeches reflecting on the ongoing protests in Iran, the Iranian Resistance’s decades-long struggle, and the need for an assertive policy towards the mullahs’ regime.

Iranian opposition President-elect Maryam Rajavi of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), gave a forceful keynote speech. She warned against appeasement, emphasizing that the mullahs’ regime, like the previous shah regime, is bound for downfall.

“The mullahs’ dictatorship will eventually be toppled by the people of Iran. As the regime weakens, it will strive to suppress the leaders of the popular uprising and limit their fundamental rights under the pretense of security or national sovereignty,” Rajavi stated.

A prominent theme at the summit was the futility of appeasing the mullahs’ regime. Former US Vice President Mike Pence, asserted, “Appeasement never works and it never will. A nuclear deal won’t lead to peace and stability. It will lead to more terrorism, more death, and destruction.” He stressed the importance of the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK), a resistance group advocating for a free, democratic Iran.

Along the same lines, Mike Pompeo, the 70th , urged a firmer policy stance. He expressed the need to back the brave Iranians opposing their despotic government, rather than lifting sanctions.

The summit also saw expressions of admiration for the tenacity of Iranian protests. Former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper acknowledged the protesters’ determination to be free from any form of dictatorship.

Additionally, former UK Prime Minister Elizabeth Truss spotlighted the instrumental role of Iranian women in the freedom struggle, calling for global support.

Former US National Security Advisor Ambassador John Bolton issued a stern warning about a potential nuclear deal, citing the severe implications for global peace and security. He also highlighted the substantial influence of the Iranian Resistance.

Other leaders, including Former Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša, US Representative Lance Gooden, German politician Peter Altmaier, former Speaker of the UK House of Commons John Bercow, and Former French Minister Michèle Alliot-Marie, also endorsed the Iranian Resistance’s struggle and their 10-point plan for a democratic Iran.

As international leaders rally behind the Iranian people’s demand for a free and democratic nation, the world watches with hope for an Iran where fundamental human rights are not just promised but practiced.
