The letters, obtained through the Iranian dissident group “GhyamSarnegouni”, suggest the AEOI’s alignment with high-ranking authorities and its endeavor to streamline bureaucratic processes for the operation of necessary equipment.
The document mentions budget and time constraints, difficulties in procuring foreign automaker representation, and challenges from the United States as hindrances to this endeavor. It also reveals how amendments to resolutions allowed the registration of 27 of these vehicles, which are now operational.
However, the letter also highlights a regulatory issue from the Department of Government Resolution Review and Compliance, which has prompted the revocation of the importation approval due to lost customs duties and reduced commercial profit. As a result, the government council has ruled that the company responsible for producing raw materials and nuclear fuel in Iran will bear the cost of the customs duties difference and commercial profit.
The report from the Ministry of Intelligence suggests the AEOI blocked mining areas under the pretense of radioactive zones in Yazd Province.
A subsequent letter, dated May 14, 2023, from the President’s office calls for the “Replacement of the High Technology Council with the Atomic Energy Council,” indicating a strategic reshuffle of council members and possibly a shift in policy direction.
The correspondence series provides an intimate glimpse into the Iranian regime’s activities, emphasizing a focus on nuclear energy and the nation’s strategic direction. The implications of these revelations are significant as they shed light on the regime’s internal affairs. As the world continues to monitor the situation, these documents serve as a critical window into Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
