Growing unrest in Iran: Demands for justice and freedom echo across the nation

Protests against the regime in Iran have reached a fever pitch, with retirees, pensioners, and other citizens from various industries joining the anti-regime rallies across the country.
Demonstrations have spread to at least 282 cities, in response to destructive economic policies and a recent surge in executions, with at least 81 inmates executed since April 21.
The People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) reports over 750 people have been killed, and more than 30,000 arrested by the regime’s forces. Meanwhile, courageous youths attacked an IRGC Basij base in the city of Fuman, Northern Iran, in response to the brutal executions ordered by Khamenei, including six in Kerman on Saturday alone.
Citizens from Karaj and Shahrak-e Bagheri in Tehran have been chanting anti-regime slogans, such as “Down with Khamenei!” and “This is the year Seyed Ali (Khamenei) is overthrown!”

Families of inmates on death row have been gathering outside prisons and judicial buildings, protesting the upcoming executions. Authorities have resorted to firing tear gas to disperse these gatherings, but the protesters remain undeterred, chanting slogans such as “Down with the dictator!” and “This is the last message: another execution and there will be another uprising!”
Regime authorities reportedly executed two inmates in Khorramabad Central Prison, Lorestan Province, on Monday. Families of death row inmates in Tehran and Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan Province, rallied outside the regime’s judiciary and the city prison respectively, demanding an end to the executions. Children held signs reading “Don’t execute my father!”, while others held placards saying “No to executions!”

The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights reports a total of 240 prisoners have been executed in 2023, including nine political prisoners and prisoners of conscience, five women, and five foreign nationals.
Retirees of the regime’s telecom industry began a new wave of protests on Monday in cities across western Iran, protesting against the regime’s policies. They join pensioners and retirees who have been protesting their deteriorating living conditions due to inadequate government pensions and the devaluation of the rial, Iran’s national currency.
