Protests have erupted across Iran as citizens from various walks of life gather to voice their economic grievances and denounce the ruling dictatorship.

The mullahs’ regime has responded with an escalating crackdown, including a new wave of executions. In less than two weeks, nearly 70 people have been executed, including at least 26 members of Iran’s Baluchi community.

The protests have now spread to 282 cities, with over 750 people killed and more than 30,000 arrested by the regime’s forces, according to the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK). In response to the regime’s surge in executions, brave youths and members of the MEK Resistance Units network launched a new campaign of anti-regime measures in cities and towns across Iran.

In northwest Iran, locals near the city of Marand held a protest against the regime authorities’ confiscation of their lands. Regime security forces attacked the demonstrators. Family members of inmates transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for execution gathered outside Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, clashing with security forces. At least eight inmates were executed in Ghezel Hesar and Gohardasht prisons in Karaj and a prison in Kermanshah.

Iranian opposition President-elect Maryam Rajavi of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), hailed the courageous families who protested the regime’s executions and emphasized that the “religious fascism that rules Iran cannot escape its inevitable demise.” She added:

“I commend the families who have protested the brutal practice of executions. Khamenei attempts to quell the people’s demand for the regime’s overthrow by resorting to a new wave of executions.

The religious fascism that rules Iran cannot escape its inevitable demise. This continued shedding of blood will only further fuel the people’s uprising, and the regime’s leaders will soon face justice for their crimes.”

Rajavi urged the United Nations, the European Union, and member states to take immediate and effective action to stop executions in Iran and save the lives of prisoners on death row.

In other parts of Iran, workers and retirees held various protests against poor living conditions, low paychecks, and officials’ refusal to address their needs and demands.

Pensioners and retirees, among the worst-hit segments of Iranian society, depend on government stipends but face growing inflation and the depreciation of the national currency. The government has repeatedly failed to increase their pensions or settle unpaid pensions from previous years.

As protests and strikes continue to spread across the country, it remains to be seen whether the regime’s crackdowns and executions will be enough to silence the growing dissatisfaction among the Iranian people.
