On April 12, a cross-party initiative was launched in Rome by renowned Italian lawmakers calling for a new approach and policy towards Iran.
The parliamentarians advocated for the terrorist designation of the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and discussed the nationwide uprising that has spread across Iran for almost seven months. MP Elisabetta Gardini, who moderated the event, emphasized the need for the international community to show solidarity with the Iranian people, who are currently facing a difficult situation. She highlighted the importance of establishing clear boundaries and recognizing the Iranian regime’s use of religion as a means of justifying their oppressive actions.
Senator Giulio Terzi said that they support the objectives of the [National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)], which correspond to Italian values and are also the request of the Iranian people.
He called for the IRGC to be put on the list of terrorist organizations and expressed his support for the resolution of the Italian Senate, which demonstrates the solidarity of the Italian people and their representatives with the Iranian people. Emanuele Pozzolo, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Parliament, expressed his solidarity with the Iranian people and shared his experience of visiting Ashraf 3. Senator Marco Scurria emphasized the need for politicians in Italy to support the Iranian people and their resistance movement.

In his remarks, MP Andrea Di Giuseppe called for a change in the policy of Western governments towards Iran. He emphasized the need for firmness and clear decisions against the regime. MP Stefania Ascari stressed the importance of standing in solidarity with the Iranian people and the need for responsible reporting of the situation in Iran.
