On Monday, supporters of the Iranian Resistance held a large rally in Brussels, where European Union foreign ministers met to discuss the situation in Iran, among other things.
The participants urged EU leaders to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization due to its role in the global spread of terror and its brutal suppression of protests in Iran. People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) members in Ashraf 3, Albania, joined the rally via video conference.
The rally took place just hours before Nowruz, the Persian New Year, and against the backdrop of seven months of ongoing protests in Iran, which have continued despite the regime’s violent response.
Lawmakers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Parliament have urged world leaders to take a firm stance against the regime, including the abolition of the IRGC.
Iranian opposition President-elect Maryam Rajavi of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said in her keynote address to the rally that the answer to the regime’s brutality “lies in organized protests, demonstrations, and uprisings, led by the Resistance Units and the Iranian people’s great Army of Freedom.”
“This political and social bankruptcy, as well as an international disgrace, which has gripped the front lines of tyranny and dependence, is a result of the Iranian people’s achievements, uprising, and Resistance movement,” she said.

In her speech, Belgian MP Latifa At Baala stated that the Iranian protest movement began with the struggle against Shah’s dictatorship. “The Iranian people do not want tyranny.” “The regime is a danger to its own people as well as a threat to global peace and stability,” she said.
Former United States Senator Robert Torricelli urged the international community to “stand by the Iranian people, not the mullahs.” Be on the side of liberty rather than short-term economic gain. Be on the side where you can be proud that you stood with the Iranian people in their fight for freedom at a critical juncture in their history,” he said.
Former Democratic Senator Robert Torricelli of the United States also backed the Iranian people’s democratic aspirations, urging the international community to be “on the right side of history.”
Mark Demesmaeker, a member of the Belgian Senate, emphasized that the mullahs’ regime poses a threat to Europe and funds terrorism through its embassies in European countries.
“The European Union and its member states must take a firm stance against the Iranian regime by including the IRGC on the European Union’s terrorist list.” “What are they thinking?” he asked.
Patrick Kennedy, a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives, described the IRGC as “nothing more than a modern Gestapo.”
