On March 2, 2023, a delegation of members of the Italian Parliament, led by Senator Giulio Terzi, the head of the Senate European Union Affairs Committee and former foreign minister of Italy, met with the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Mrs. Maryam Rajavi.
Other members of the delegation included Ms. Stefania Ascari from the Judicial Committee and Mr. Emanuele Pozzolo from the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Parliament.
During the meeting, Mrs. Rajavi expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the Italian Parliament in supporting the Iranian people’s democratic revolution and their efforts to protect the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) against ground and missile attacks in Ashraf and Liberty over the past years. Despite the regime’s attempts to control the explosive situation in Iranian society and confront the uprisings, courageous youths, and resistance units, the regime is failing to maintain control.

Senator Terzi praised Mrs. Rajavi’s leadership and the organizational and political human capacities of the PMOI/MEK, which have brought the prospect of a democratic Iran closer. He added that the struggle of the Iranian people for freedom is not limited to the era of the religious regime and that they also fought for freedom during Shah’s dictatorship. The people of Iran reject any dictatorship in their uprising today, and returning to the previous dictatorship is nothing more than a mirage.
Ms. Ascari expressed her admiration for Iranian women and their strength in the face of the regime’s oppression. She also expressed her respect for Mrs. Rajavi’s leadership and thanked her for her work in advancing women’s rights.
Mr. Pozzolo pledged to convey what he saw in the Museum of Resistance to other parliamentarians and to expose the regime’s use of religion to justify its crimes. The delegation also visited various parts of Ashraf-3 and participated in a gathering of PMOI freedom fighters.
The Italian Parliament delegation, led by Senator Terzi, visited the Resistance’s Museum and different parts of Ashraf-3 during their two-day visit. They also spoke to and addressed a group of PMOI freedom fighters.
