Several significant cyber and public information service interruptions have hit the Iranian regime in recent weeks. Since then, the regime has attempted to reduce the impact of these disruptions on its legitimacy and cyber capacity, while also desperately trying to prevent them in the future. Towards this purpose, Mohsen Momeni Rad, one of the architects of the regime’s censorship plan known as the cyberspace protection plan, stated in an interview with the state-run website Khabar Fori on February 13, that the regime insists on implementing the plan. “We will deal with a foreign service if it does not legitimize its activity in Iran, given how destructive their activities are.” We have requests from Instagram; For example, establish an office here or accept policies and differences,” he said.

While the regime is fully aware that this approach is akin to shooting itself in the foot due to the threat of escalating public unrest, it has no choice but to tackle the People’s Mojahedin of Iran’s (PMOI / MEK Iran) expanding popularity.

The regime’s concern has been mirrored in its media in recent weeks as a result of this threat.

said IRGC Major General Mohammad (Esmaeel) Kosari, a member of Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee who previously served as Commander of the 27th Mohammad Rasulallah Brigade, according to an article published by the state-run daily Donya-e Eghtesad on February 12. They are employing weak, mercenary individuals within the system to collect information to attack the Islamic Republic since global arrogance has given a significant blow to the Islamic Republic’s system.

“Khamenei had issued the necessary warnings about the issue of hacking under the previous government,”

“To those who collaborate with the MEK and the Islamic Republic’s opponents, I must emphasize that we will do everything possible to make them regret their actions.” The policy has been determined by the leadership, and we will no longer be on the defensive. We shall be on the offensive from now on.”

“If we notice now that the Mojahedin Khalq Organization has ceased all of its activities and focused on the use of social networks, it is because it realizes its destructive power,” Khamenei’s official website reported an expert as stating on February 12.  Today, the destructive power of a single message or a short video clip is significantly higher than that of a number of bombs and missiles.

Khamenei’s official said, Today, the destructive power of a single message or a short video clip is significantly higher than that of a number of bombs and missiles.

“Today, we are under intense attack from the revolution’s foes’ lies in the media. The enemy’s strategy consists of two parts: first, distorting the facts and providing inaccurate figures and comparisons of the country’s status to that of other countries throughout the world. Second, people are discouraged toward the system by their careless and unregulated use of cyberspace and social space. The enemy has attacked not only the revolution’s history but also the eight-year war’s history.”

Many TV and radio stations of Iran’s state broadcasting network were disrupted at 3 pm local time on Thursday, January 27, airing footage of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the Iranian opposition coalition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).
