The People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) conducted a large conference in Washington, DC on Thursday, October 28. This conference, on the other hand, was very different from previous similar gatherings in the United States.

American personalities

Distinguished American personalities such as Senator Joe Lieberman, US Vice President candidate (2000), Senator Torricelli, US Senator (1997-2003), Honorable Judge Michael Mukasey, 81st US Attorney General, General James Conway, former commander of the US Marine Marines, and others who have previously attended such meetings and expressed their support for the MEK and the NCRI were present at this ever-important gathering. However, the fact that former Vice President Mike Pence was in attendance added to the significance of the event.

Vice-President Mike Pence noted in his speech that he was attending the meeting as his first opportunity after leaving office to speak in-depth about Iran. Vice-President Mike Pence has hardly been in public since the November election. He assured the audience that, while he was no longer speaking on behalf of the United States government, he was expressing the views and aspirations of the tens of millions of Americans who strongly support the establishment of a democratic republic in Iran based on the separation of religion and state.

He proceeded his speech by denouncing Ebrahim Raisi and calling for his trial for crimes against humanity and the mass killing of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988, saying that “the election of Ebrahim Raisi as president of the Iranian regime was a sign that the regime is in a state of desperation and weakness.”

 

 

The MEK is the alternative to the current Iranian government

Vice-President Mike Pence stated in his speech that the MEK is the alternative to the current Iranian government. According to Pence, the MEK possesses all of the necessary skills and has the support of the Iranian people.

Pence stated that the group is dedicated to all Iranians’ freedom and human rights, and is led by a brilliant woman named Maryam Rajavi, who inspires the entire globe. Freedom of expression is guaranteed in her ten-point plan for Iran’s future. It also guarantees freedom of assembly and the right for all Iranians to choose their own leaders, as well as the peaceful coexistence of all independent countries in the region.

 

 

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

Last July, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo addressed at a three-day meeting organized by pro-resistance Iranian American communities in the United States and participated in an online conference. Secretary Pompeo also reaffirmed his support for the Iranian people’s resistance in his speech, stating that the time for the establishment of another monarchy in Iran is passed.

The regime media in Iran, on the other hand, reacted angrily to Vice President Pence’s address, as one might expect. Almost all of the regime’s media outlets highlighted the meeting and Mike Pence’s attendance, as well as his support for MEK and Ms. Rajavi and their opposition to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or JCPOA. The Ayatollahs are concerned that, under the pressure of JCPOA opponents such as Pence and Pompeo, the US government, as well as the UK, France, and Germany, who want to continue negotiations and reach a new agreement, will conclude that negotiations are fruitless and that, as a result, they will be unable to complete their nuclear program.
