The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran), reported that during the government’s sham presidential election’s third debate, the so-called contenders admitted some of the regime’s corruption and crimes. According to the regime’s MPs, this “cursing match” revealed the regime’s deepening internal crises and intensified infighting.
There is a flood of people who show dissatisfaction
“Why are people unsatisfied? Why the slightest social problem rapidly turns into a crisis? It rains, there is a flood of people who show dissatisfaction. Look at the fuel price issue in November 2019.
These are not solutions,” One of the candidates, Mohsen Mehralizadeh, referred to the explosive nature of society and the large protests in November 2019.
The boycott campaign by the regime´s opposition
“Today, despite repeated advice by officials, daily campaigns, and colorful banners and posters, the election atmosphere is still cold and soulless due to people’s distrust of their impact and frustration with their unfulfilled dreams,” Mehalizadeh recognized that the boycott campaign by the regime´s opposition has increasing support.
Each contender attempted to pin the country’s economic and social woes on the other.
The regime’s refusal to assist people
“It has been a year in which people have had to choose between life and bread,” one of the candidates, Amir Hossain Ghazizadeh-Hashemi, said, referring to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak in Iran and the regime’s refusal to assist people who are quarantined.
“A few people with ties to the [regime] get special treatment. Unemployment is on the rise. People blame politicians for the unequal distribution of the country’s wealth. Our national athletes would not be street vendors, and people would not be plunderers if [officials] had a tiny little bit of decency,” Ghazizadeh-Hashemi acknowledged, adding, “People are dissatisfied because they perceive no decency in the system.” “In one case alone, $3 quadrillions in currency in subsidies vanished,” Ghazizadeh-Hashemi admitted.
The liquidity has increased
“The liquidity has increased by almost a factor of six, from 60 trillion to 3.5 quadrillion tomans. The monetary base has also been raised from 20 to 50 trillion tomans. During the argument, Alireza Zakani declared, “Mr. [Abdolnasser] Hemmati should answer for this,” accusing Hemmati, Iran’s former central bank chief, of the country’s economic woes.
November 2019, which sparked a violent protest
The regime’s plan to triple the fuel price in November 2019, which sparked a violent protest, was one of the topics highlighted during the debate. Hemmati attempted to downplay his role in raising the fuel price, blaming the subsequent crackdown on demonstrators on the other faction, particularly Ebrahim Raisi, the supreme leader’s favored candidate.
He did, however, acknowledge the public’s decision to boycott the regime’s rigged election.
‘Where is my vote?’ now say, ‘No vote?’
“How did it come to be that people who used to say, ‘Where is my vote?’ now say, ‘No vote?’ Mr. Raisi, Iran is not North Korea, and you do not wish to restrict access to the internet in Iran. You talk about women as if they don’t know who you are. Mr. Raisi, you’ve abruptly changed your attitude toward people. If this is the case, Telegram’s filtering should be disabled. “Demand that the Supreme Leader grant amnesty to those who were arrested in November of this year,” Hemmati stated.
“Hemmati claims that he was against the decision to raise the fuel price. Mr. Hemmati, how could you possibly lie? Zakani said Hemmati, “Your official letter of September 2019 shows your demand for an increase in the fuel price to compensate for the government’s budget deficit.”
Forty years of persecution and corruption
“What took place under the guise of a debate was more like a classroom where students read their essays and competed for first place. On Saturday, the state-run Mostaghel daily noted, “Each candidate presented himself as a superhero for resolving Iran’s deep crises and tried to pursue people who have the solution to all problems in their pockets.”
The regime’s internal conflicts reflect officials’ terror of the Iranian people, who have stated that they will “neither forgive nor forget” the mullahs’ forty years of persecution and corruption. As a result, these so-called candidates are battling for more power in order to plunder even more people.
