The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran), reported that the mullah regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) has informed the family of political prisoner Mehran Gharabaghi in Behbahan that he had been sentenced to death.

The mullah regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) has recently informed the family of political prisoner Mehran Gharabaghi in Behbahan that he had been sentenced to death.
The mullah regime demanded that Mehran’s family pressure him to recant, collaborate with the Ministry of Intelligence and Security, and denounce the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK Iran/ PMOI). They said this must happen before a formal court ruling is issued.

Mehran Gharabaghi a Bachelor of Science
Mehran Gharabaghi, 29, a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, was arrested on January 18, 2020, along with a friend, Majid Khademi, 29, and transferred to Behbahan Prison after a month-long interrogation.
Gharabaghi and Khademi were both tried on April 25 on charges of propaganda against the state, membership in the MEK, participation in destruction and arson, disturbing public order, participation in the manufacture of flammable materials, and “corruption on earth.”

Call to prevent the execution
While the trial of Gharabaghi and Khademi has not yet ended, the MOIS has informed the Qarabaghi family of Mehran’s execution order. Mehran’s family went to the court on Thursday, May 20, to follow up on his condition. But the court clerk threatened to arrest them and forced them to leave.
The Iranian Resistance, The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran) calls for urgent international action to prevent the execution of Mehran Gharahbaghi and save the life of Majid Khademi. It emphasizes the imperative of dispatching an international delegation to Iran to visit the prisons and meet with political prisoners in particular.

Violation of human rights
During the past few weeks, in an inhuman act in violation of international humanitarian law, the religious fascism ruling in Iran has approached the families of political prisoners, especially supporters of the MEK, demanding that they pressure their children to repent, surrender and collaborate with the Intelligence Ministry, and denounce MEK and the Iranian Resistance.
