The number of victims across Iran
The number of victims in Tehran has reached 67,996, Isfahan 19,375, Khuzestan 18,099, Khorasan Razavi 17,860, East Azerbaijan 11,943, Lorestan 11,840, West Azerbaijan 10,908, Gilan 9,916, Fars 9,547, Alborz 8,068, Sistan and Baluchestan 6,686, Kerman 6,548, Central Province 6,088, Kermanshah 5,774, Khorasan North 4,263, Hormozgan 3,430, and South Khorasan 2,746.
The Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery
The director of Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery Saied Khal said: “Each day we have an average of 200 people being buried in the Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery. With the spread of coronavirus, there are days that this number reaches 400. We have an average of 170 coronavirus deaths per day. Forty percent of the country’s coronavirus deaths are in Tehran,”. As a result, according to the Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery, during the past 15 months of the Covid-19 epidemic, more than 77,000 people have died of coronavirus in Tehran alone. The National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT) spokesperson Alireza Reisi said: We should not think that the Coronavirus is due to arrive from India, South Africa, or Brazil. It’s always possible that the virus could mutate in Iran. (Javan daily, May 18, 2021)
The head of NCCT in Tehran Alireza Zali said: 1,200 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized in Tehran, 250 of them are in ICU. We have 6,992 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in the Province, of whom 1,500 are in ICU. (State-run Arya news agency, May 18, 2021)
The Scientific Committee of the NCCT in Khorasan Razavi: Daily COVID-19 mortality rate has reached 61 in the third wave of the outbreak and 28 in the fourth wave. (IRNA news agency, May 17, 2021)
Medical sciences universities
Isfahan University of Medical Sciences spokesperson said: In the past 24 hours, 246 COVID-19 patients were admitted, and 225 were discharged. Thirty-seven patients have died in the past 24 hours. (Mehr news agency, May 18, 2021)
Medical sciences universities in different provinces reported that: in the past 24 hours, 24 covid patients died in Alborz, 15 in Fars, and 11 in West Azarbaijan. (Mehr news agency, May 18, 2021)
Maryam Rajavi message
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI): The astounding and horrific COVID19 fatalities are the result of the criminal and plundering policies of the regime in Iran; Khamenei and Rouhani bear direct responsibility. By banning the import of the vaccine, they are creating a bigger disaster.
