(NCRI) and (PMOI / MEK Iran): the Iranian students hold demonstrations, protesting the Education Ministry’s decision to test students at physical locations.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran), reported that the Iranian students hold demonstrations, protesting the Education Ministry’s decision to test students at physical locations, despite the threat of further increasing the country’s uncontrolled COVID-19 outbreak.

Students protests and rallies

MEK supporters reported that protests and rallies held in front of the education departments in Tehran, Isfahan, Karaj, Tabriz, Shiraz, Foulad-Shahr, Ahvaz, Yazd, Qazvin, Zanjan, Semnan, Birjand, Khorramabad, Shahr-e Kord, Dezful, Boroujerd, Ardabil, and many other cities.

At the protests, students were chanted: “there can’t be in-person exams with COVID” and “we don’t want in-person exams”.

Students protest across Iran

The student’s parents say it is dangerously irresponsible for the authorities to insist on in-person exams when Iran’s COVID-19 per capita infection and death numbers in Iran are the worst in the world.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran), reported that the coronavirus death toll in 541 cities surpasses 289,200.

The Ministry of Education was also criticized at the start of the new academic year in September 2020 for not anticipating limited accessibility to online schooling due to many families’ inability to afford computers or mobile devices for their children, forcing a high percentage of them to drop out. Some even cited the inaccessibility before committing suicide.

An 11-year-old Iranian child committed  suicide

Now, of course, this poor boy could not possibly understand the economic state of Iran, being wrecked by the regime’s poor decisions. All he knew is that his family was too poor to afford the essentials, which obviously make him feel helpless and depressed, while his parents feel ashamed that they cannot provide for him.

An 11-year-old Iranian child has died from suicide due to extreme poverty, according to the state-run Asr-e-Iran website. Mohammad Mousavizadeh from Bushehr was supposed to be attending school, but because of the coronavirus pandemic his lessons were still taking place online and he needed a smartphone to access his education.

The Bushehr Education said that his headteacher gave him a phone and that he was enrolled in the online education system, but his mother says that although this promise was made, it was never fulfilled.

The website wrote: “How do you think this boy’s parents feel now? Sitting in the corner, drowning in grief and mourning, asked themselves why they could not get a smartphone for their child.”

Students protests violently repressed

MEK supporters reported that protests violently repressed in some parts of the country such as Qazvin, Yazd, Foulad-Shahr, and Isfahan. the Iranian Teachers Trade Association said: “Using force, pepper spray, and batons to intimidate and arrest students and underage youths is a shocking violation of humanitarian and civil behavior. It is wrong to use violence to deal with such simple gatherings when the authorities should instead be engaging in discussion and teaching students how to behave in a civil manner.” And it added: “What right do the police have to treat the young children of our country with such brutal violence?”

Suppression to keep a shaky hold on power

For decades, the mullahs’ regime has robbed the Iranian people blind, not caring who they hurt, so long as they can conduct their terrorism, warmongering, and suppression to keep a shaky hold on power.

The Iranian people, as we have seen in subsequent uprisings, will not stand for this and they will overthrow the religious dictatorship in favor of a government that champions and protects freedom, democracy, justice, and human rights.
