(PMOI / MEK Iran), and (NCRI): Iran has heightened its blackmailing campaign in recent weeks because it wants the international community to agree to its terms.

Earlier this month, the Iranian regime conducted two provocative actions: increasing uranium enrichment to 20% fissile purity and seizing a South Korean tanker.

Provocative actions

The first appeared to be an attempt to force the remaining signatories of the 2015 nuclear deal to grant extra concessions or bully the United States into returning to the deal, while the second was likely about getting South Korea to release $7 billion in Iranian assets that are frozen because of international sanctions.

The Iranian regime’s parliament took drastic action last month to get international sanctions lifted. The  People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), analysis says it is clear from this that the regime does not want to pursue “normal” relations with the world, so why do so many in the West continue to argue for appeasement of the so-called moderates in power there?

Hassan Rouhani, the supposed moderate leader, has been in power for eight years and at the end of his second term, all he has proven is that there are no moderates in the Iranian regime.

West continues to sweep Iran’s crimes

Yet the West continues to sweep Iran’s crimes, from the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners, Many of the victims were either members or supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran). And to the 2019 shooting dead of 1,500 protesters under the rug. Reuters confirmed in a special report on December 23, 2019, about the deadly crackdown on November nationwide protests in Iran the death toll of 1500 that was announced by the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran) on December 15, 2019.

There certainly are a lot of dead Iranians under that rug. The regime doesn’t even have to use bullets or nooses to kill their people right now, they can rely on a lack of coronavirus restrictions to do this for them, with 204,200 people dead in just under a year.

Hostage-taking and nuclear blackmail

Given that massacres are getting a free pass, it’s little wonder that hostage-taking and nuclear blackmail aren’t exactly getting the West’s condemnation. But how many times can countries that pride themselves on human rights ignore their principles in favor of trade? Or are human rights just for people who live in Europe and the US?

The Iranian Resistance (NCRI) and (PMOI / MEK Iran) analysis says: “The Western world should have no appetite for taking seriously anything that Tehran says on the international stage.

The regime promises to resume compliance with the nuclear deal if and only if the US suspends sanctions and apologizes for the previous administration’s policies. This promise, as insulting as it is, is also devoid of value.”

Unfortunately, the West will likely ignore this, seeking a deal with the “moderate” Rouhani before he leaves office, especially with Iran lobbyists advocating for just this. But this will just result in the same problems and provide the Iranian people with a vicious cycle of authoritarian rule and no help from other countries. The West should heed this warning: do not appease the regime any further.
