Economic Conditions

Iranian opposition, NCRI and (PMOI / MEK Iran), believes that the widespread uprising that began last December started because of dissatisfaction with economic conditions in Iran. Joblessness, poverty, and corruption by the regime led the people to take to the streets, and protests soon turned to cries for regime change.

The Iranian government may be hoping that the results of the U.S. presidential election may help to resolve the crises in Iran. The mishandling of the COVID-19 crisis in Iran isn’t going to help the regime at all.

Over 139,400 people have died of the coronavirus in 462 cities across all of Iran, according to reports by the Iranian opposition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran’s (NCRI), and its constituent groups, especially the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran).

The Minister of Health, Saeed Namaki, revealed that so far the health department has only received 50 percent of the billion euros allocated to address the COVID-19 crisis. It has been revealed that 7 million rials out of a billion euros have been handed out to the Armed Forces so far.

Inflation created by stealing from the Iranian’s pockets

(PMOI / MEK Iran) reported that, according to the Iran Daily revealed that around: “250 trillion tomans out of 600 trillion tomans of the government budget has a deficit. Its resources will be done through inflation and will be paid out of the people’s pockets. In fact, the government puts its hand in the pockets of the people and finances part of its budget deficit from the people.”

State-run radio and television gets lion’s share of the budget

(PMOI / MEK Iran) reported that, it appears that the massive budget deficit is not helped by a large amount of money allocated to the Khamenei-controlled radio and television which it appears runs at a loss and reaches audiences which aren’t as many as Instagram pages.

Hassan Sadeghi, President of the governmental organization, “Trade Union Veterans” said: “The Parliament seeks demagoguery in 2021 elections out of workers’ pockets.”

What it seems they intend to do is to create a coupon allocation for food and they will do this by withdrawing 150 trillion rials from the pockets of the poor and redistribute the money among the different classes of people so that they can become more popular. They intend to cover the costs of the 3rd round of subsidies from the working class’s assets so they can carry out their election slogan according to the ILNA news agency on 27th October.

Acknowledging the Closing of the Entry of Dollars into the Economy and the Closing of Banking Transactions

(PMOI / MEK Iran) reported that, according to the Eghtesad-e-Saramad daily, in its issue on 29th October, dealt with the economic suffocation of the state and the need to align with the world. It said the country’s political-economic situation has been driven into isolation by 2 factors which are the inefficient government economic policies and sanctions and the closing of the entry of dollars into the country’s economy so that Iran’s banking and monetary exchanges have been either restricted or blocked.

The International Monetary Fund said in its most recent report on the Middle East situation, including Iran, states that 2018 Iran’s available foreign exchange reserves were around $121.6 billion in 2018, but are expected to be only $8.8 billion this year.

(PMOI / MEK Iran) reported that, according to the state-run daily, Jahan-e-Sanat, mentioned the Central Bank and its lies stating that if it is true that the Iranian banks have handed out 4.22 quadrillion rials [$22.1 billion] to businesses in just six months alone for working capital for all economic sectors and taking into account the average price of one dollar is equal to 200,000 rials and just working out a simple calculation, it can be said that banks have provided $21 billion for economic activities, which is equal to 3 billion dollars per month.

It seems that these numbers have been fabricated as providing so much money would not have given rise to the negative growth rate which took place in the first 6 months of the year. There is little evidence of the use of this amount of money so the central bank should abandon this type of numbers creations.

The solution to ending the bizarre economic condition in Iran is to end the corrupt clerical regime, which has caused the current epidemic of widespread poverty through their corruption and looting of the country’s resources.
