Regime is Close to Downfall

(PMOI / MEK Iran): While many governments may value their security, the regime uses this to justify violence and suppression of the Iranian people. Oppressive forces have been on a tirade over the last few weeks, following Khamenei’s comments, shooting and murdering citizens in public.

The Iranian regime has a long history of using violence and inhumane treatment to try and silence anyone who opposes their theocratic rule. On 12 October, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, launched a new wave of oppression against the Iranian people, disguising the tactics as necessary for “security”.

Khamenei stated in a virtual meeting with graduates of the Armed Forces universities: “Without security, all of our values will fall into disorder. Security is a critical element for the state.”

While many governments may value their security, the regime uses this to justify violence and suppression of the Iranian people. Oppressive forces have been on a tirade over the last few weeks, following Khamenei’s comments, shooting and murdering citizens in public. This has included the state security forces, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and Basij paramilitary forces, affiliated with the IRGC.

Iranian citizens are doing everything they can to spread awareness of the atrocities that the regime is subjecting them to. They are posting videos on social media, documenting the shocking security forces’ brutality against the people, for the international community to see.

Exposing the human rights violations of the regime is a great act of bravery, as eyewitnesses and whistleblowers are often the prime subjects of investigation, violence, and even murder. Activists risk their lives in Iran for simply posting in support of human rights and Judicial officials focus much of their efforts on catching citizens who report the crimes of the regime’s security forces.

An example of this is the murder of Mehrdad Sepehri, a 28-year-old man from Mashhad city. State security forces violently detained him on the 18 October, tying him to an electric post and torturing him with electric shockers and pepper spray in public. Videos of torture were circulated on social media, exposing the police officers’ brutality and the signs of torture on his body. He died while in the custody of the security forces.

Another victim of the security forces’ brutality was Ashkan Aziz, from Kermanshah city, western Iran. The security forces agents mercilessly opened fire on Aziz’s car, while he and a friend were inside. Aziz was killed and his friend was injured. The officers detained Aziz’s wounded passenger and left him to die in the car.

However, when it comes to the hierarchy of the regime, the system actually rewards those who are prepared to commit the worst crimes against the Iranian people. This can be seen in the case of Ebrahim Raisi, a Judiciary chief, who was appointed by the regime’s first Supreme Leader, Ruhollah Khomeini, with the task of orchestrating the massacre of over 30,000 political prisoners in 1988, majority of the members of (PMOI / MEK Iran), supporters. He has since worked his way up the ranks of the regime and continues to defend his crimes as an act of religious preservation.

The regime feels shaken by the uprisings that have been taking place in Iran since December 2017 and is feeling threatened by the resistance movement, the National Council of Resistance of Iran’s (NCRI), and the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran). History has shown that the regime will go to any lengths to destroy anyone that may threaten their power, including the murder of their own citizens. This new surge of oppressive acts and violence by the regime’s security forces has been enacted in an attempt to deter the Iranian people from further protests and uprisings and not over any legitimate security concerns.

The President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, referred to the increasing brutality of the security forces when she said: “the scenes of torture and brutal murder of this young man in public have left a scar on the conscience and feelings of the Iranian people. This has been the routine and daily behavior of the IRGC, paramilitary Basijis, security, and intelligence forces against the people of Iran and the children of this country for the past 40 years, some of which are only now being revealed.”
