Iranian rally in Paris

Iranian diaspora, supporters of MEK, holds a rally expressing their support for the uprising and protests of Iranian people against the clerical regime in Iran- Paris, September 2, 2019

Hundreds of Supporters of the main Iranian opposition group People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK) rallied in Paris on Monday, December 2, 2019, to denounce Iranian regime’s crackdown on the protesters in Iran and express their support for the uprising in Iran.

Supporters of the Iranian resistance called on the EU and its member states to condemn the Iranian regime for a bloody crackdown on the protesters and to stop the policy of appeasement towards the Iranian regime.

The protesters chanted “Down with Rouhani” and “Down with Khamenei,” referring to the regime’s President Hassan Rouhani and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The protesters marched in the streets of Paris carrying banners, and pictures of those who have been killed by the regime’s security forces during the uprising. The banners read: “Iran: killing the protesters is a crime against humanity. The officials of the clerical regime must be brought before the justice for this crime.”, “silence and inaction in the face of mullah’s crimes against humanity will encourage them to continue their cruelty.”

President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Maryam Rajavi said in a message to the rally: “The blood of 600 rebellious youth, cries of 10000 young Iranians detained in the torture chambers of Khamenei, and cries of defiant people from all over Iran urges the world to stand up against the religious fascism in Iran. Their cry is that we have shaken the ground under the rotten rule of the mullahs in over 178 cities and by paying a very high price, we have proven that there is no other path but the overthrow of the mullahs.”

Mrs. Rajavi also called on the EU to put aside the appeasement policy towards the regime. She also called on France to lead a European initiative to send a fact-finding delegation to Iran’s prisons.

A number of French Parliamentarians and human rights activists addressed the gathering. The speakers stated their support for the protesters in Iran and condemned the Iranian regime’s crackdown on the protesters.

Today the MEK announced that the number of people detained since the start of the uprising on November 15 has exceeded over 12000 people.  On December 1, 2019, the MEK reported that over 600 people have been killed, and 4000 have been wounded in the uprising. The MEK published the names of 194 people who have been killed by the security forces in the uprising.

On a number of occasions in the past two weeks, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi has called on the international community to undertake urgent measures to stop slaughter and suppression. She also has urged the United Nations to immediately dispatch fact-finding missions to Iran to ascertain the scope of crime against humanity perpetrated by the regime and to visit those detained.

She emphasized that “the leaders of mullahs’ regime must face justice for committing crimes against humanity. Silence and inaction not only violate human rights principles but also embolden the ruling theocracy to continue its crimes and expand them to the region as a whole.”
