Iranian women have played a significant role in the six-month uprising of the Iranian people, as the world prepares to mark International Women’s Day. To celebrate this, the Iranian Resistance held a conference in Brussels on March 4.

The conference was attended by prominent women from around the world, including former White House Director of Public Liaison Linda Chavez, former German Minister of Defense Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, and Canadian MP Judy A. Sgro.

During the conference, international human rights lawyer Azadeh Zabeti noted that Iranian women have paid an exceptionally high price for their resistance, with thousands of political prisoners being tortured and executed. She emphasized that the women of Iran are not asking for anything from the regime and that their true emancipation, democracy, freedom, and liberty will only be achieved by the overthrow of the regime.

Maryam Rajavi, the keynote speaker of the event and President-elect of the NCRI, praised the brave and resilient women of Iran, emphasizing their unwavering bravery and tireless activism. Rajavi stressed that throughout the history of the struggle against the regime, women have played a leading role with their resistance inside regime prisons, their leadership role in the ranks of the National Liberation Army, and their activities as Resistance Units inside Iran.

Sarvnaz Chitsaz, Chairwoman of the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), spoke about the MEK's efforts to turn the issue of equality from mere words and slogans into a reality by putting women in leadership roles at the forefront of the fight against the regime.

Dominique Attias, President of European Law Society Federation, said that the women of Iran are the forgotten power of the world and are currently leading the struggle for freedom. She stressed that the people of Iran are shouting no to the dictatorship of Khamenei and all factions of the regime and are saying down to the dictator, Shah, and mullahs.

Canadian MP and former Minister Judy A. Sgro called Mrs. Rajavi’s ten-point plan “a model for the world, not just for Iran.” She emphasized that the world is backing Madam Rajavi, the MEK, the NCRI, and all the other movements that are trying to finally get rid of an oppressive group of mullahs.

Former German Minister of Defense Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer expressed her admiration for the courage of Iranian women and youth and called on the international community to stand up for their fight for freedom. She emphasized that Iran can be an example of peace, freedom, and democracy and that it is in our interest to support them. The women of Iran are currently leading the struggle against the regime, and the international community must stand by their side to support their fight for freedom.
