Champion Iranian wrestler, Navid Afkari’s, fate has been known for some time, which has led to thousands of Iranians from throughout the world, along with several governments, international organizations, and athletes joining together to save his life.
The Iranian regime refused to withdraw the death penalty, even though they knew he had been tortured to get a confession for a crime he allegedly did not commit.
Navid’s place of birth was Shiraz and that was where he was hanged. In November 2019 this town was the center of the protests and was where many youths were murdered by the regime. The reason Navid was executed was that if he wasn’t the regime feared there would be more protests and his execution was a way of controlling the people.
The mullahs’ criminal regime hanged #NavidAfkari this morning. The people of #Iran and its brave youth will not remain silent against the cowardly execution of this courageous son of #Shiraz. They will rise in solidarity with the heroic people of Fars.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said in a statement: “The mullahs’ criminal regime sent Navid Afkari to the gallows. But they will soon receive their response from Iran’s people and brave youth in their blazing protests and uprisings to topple the regime.”
There is little doubt that Iran is now grieving for Navid, along with his family and people throughout the world.
Because religious fascism operates in Iran every day, those who do not support the theocratic regime are subject to executions without trial and constant suppression from the regime’s security forces. The mullahs really believe that these sorts of actions are likely to stop people from questioning their power.
What is more likely to happen is that Navid Afkari’s demise will ignite the people to rebel and at long last, the regime will be ousted, never to be replaced.
The Iranian dissidents and the supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) have initiated protests following the execution in countries throughout the world to condemn Navid Afkari’s execution.
